South Point Hotel Transforms into a 7K Obstacle Course during BADASS Dash™ Obstacle Course Challenge and Adventure Race

South Point Arena and Equestrian Center dives into the obstacle challenge world for the second consecutive year during the BADASS Dash™ Obstacle Course Challenge and Adventure Run on Saturday, May 24 at 8 a.m. After more than 3,000 race enthusiasts tackled last year’s 7K obstacle course challenge, BADASS Dash™ will design more than 35 one-of-a-kind, challenging and fun obstacles within the confines of South Point’s unique blueprint in attempts to increase the event’s fundraising efforts.

“South Point has worked very hard to become home to some of the most unique events Las Vegas has ever seen,” said Ryan Growney, general manager of South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa. “We are dedicated to bringing events that not only encourage community involvement but that everyone can enjoy, and the BADASS Dash™ is a very special event that successfully achieves both.”

BADASS Dash™, one of the world’s leading producers of obstacle course challenges, has partnered with Autism Speaks and local Las Vegas nonprofit Dave Rice Foundation, two nonprofits dedicated to educating and supporting those with developmental disorders such as Autism. The BADASS Dash™ will donate a portion of the challenge’s proceeds to Dave Rice Foundation and Autism Speaks in an effort to raise public awareness for the on-going developmental disorder.

“There’s an immense feeling of satisfaction knowing you completed that last obstacle and are headed toward the coveted finish line to celebrate with friends, family and/or fellow racers,” said Brian Sharenow, race director for BADASS Dash™. “However, for individuals within the autism spectrum, the obstacles never end – there’s always one more. The focus of our events is to hopefully one day provide those with Autism their finish line, and we couldn’t have found a better partner that shares in our same goals than South Point and the Dave Rice Foundation.”

The events diverse setup will transform the arena, parking garage, concourse and outdoor blueprint into a series of obstacles course challenges suitable for all levels of competitors from the avid racer to the weekend warrior. Each competitor has the option to compete individually or as a team and register for four obstacle divisions, including:

  • Elite Division, geared toward individuals who are well trained and are looking to conquer the toughest of challenges while having the race of a lifetime. This division showcases those who can traverse through the obstacles while navigating the terrain the fastest with opportunities to win big prizes and even bigger bragging rights.
  • Recreation Division, designed for all skill levels, is geared toward those who are not specifically trained in obstacle course challenges or adventure races but want to set a goal on the finish line and achieve it.
  • K9 Companion Division is the first of its kind where participants can bring their four-legged companions to take part in a race specifically designed for them to compete as a team.
  • Kids Dash Division offers two courses specially designed for children 4 to 13 years of age. The first course, available for children 4 to 6 years of age, features a 200-yard dash with obstacles just their size. An additional course, available to children 7 to 13 years of age, offers a one-mile obstacle course challenge designed with an assortment of obstacles suitable for both children and adults.

Following the races, South Point will host a post race festival in the arena for family and friends of both racers and volunteers to celebrate the participants’ hard work and dedication to support a great cause. The festival will consist of live entertainment, a beer garden, food and beverages, an exhibit area, award ceremonies, contests and prize giveaways.

Registration for the obstacle course challenge is now open and starts at $20 for children and $82.50 for adults. Those interested in witnessing the obstacle madness can purchase tickets for $10 prior to the event or $15 at the door.
