Indie Rock band The Airborne Toxic Event takes over at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, July 20. Named after a section in Don DeLillo’s novel “White Noise,” The Los Angeles-based group released its self-titled first album in 2008. Single “Sometime Around Midnight” became a top 10 modern rock hit, prompting Island Records to sign the band in 2009. Two years later, the band is making waves across the music industry with sophomore album All At Once.

Kottonmouth Kings and special guests Dilated Peoples and hed P.E. perform at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, July 27. The Orange County rap-rock group first attracted attention with the single “Surburban Life,” which was included “Scream 2” soundtrack. The band released debut album Royal Highness via Capitol Records in 1998 and gained mainstream success with the release of their third album High Society in 2000. Red Hot Chili Peppers, 311 Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Bad Religion are the group’s musical influences, among others.

Punk rockers NOFX take over SOUNDWAVES poolside concert series with special guest Unwritten Law on Saturday, July 28. Formed in 1983 by vocalist/bassist Fat Mike and guitarist Eric Melvin, NOFX’s earned popularity from the growing interest in punk rock bands during the 1990s. The band has released 11 studio albums, 15 extended lays and sold more than 10 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful independent bands in history.

Groundbreaking artists Matisyahu and Dirty Heads perform at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Saturday, Sept. 15.
In 2004, Matisyahu emerged with his debut album Shake Off The Dust…Arise. The unconventional artist raps about the glories of traditional Judaism over reggae beats. Throughout his career, Matisyahu has garnered Grammy Award nominations including “Best Reggae Album,” numerous gold records and a broad and faithful fan base.
Dirty Heads’ debut album was released in 2008 and features one of the decade’s biggest rock singles, “Lay Me Down,” which was on No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative Chart for 11 weeks. This reggae/rock/hip hop band from California is inspired by groups like Sublime, whose music has a signature laid-back, Southern California attitude.

SOUNDWAVES veteran Collective Soul returns to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s poolside stage to perform their album Dosage cover-to-cover in addition to their hits on Friday, June 8. Collective Soul gained a special place in the hearts of music lovers when they burst onto the scene in 1993 with the rock anthem “Shine.” The self-titled Collective Soul, released in March 1995, became the album that would help define their catchy melodies and guitar driven songs. In 2007, the band released Afterwords, sold exclusively through Target, which opened at No.25 on the Billboard “Comprehensive Albums” chart and No. 5 on the Billboard “Top Internet Albums” chart. “Tremble For My Beloved” found Collective Soul on the soundtrack to Twilight – one of the hottest movies of 2008. In 2009, with new momentum, the band released its eighth album titled Collective Soul (Rabbit), which debuted at No. 24 on Billboard’s “Top 200.” The band was also recently inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.

Hawaiian rock band Pepper makes a stop at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday, June 15. Pepper has sold more than half a million records and is most well known for their hit single “Give It Up.” In addition, the band’s songs have been featured on hit soundtracks including “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Good Luck Chuck,” television shows and video games. Performing in major festivals like Lollapalooza, Mile High Festival and West Beach Music Festival, Pepper has gained a large following with many of its songs landing on Billboard’s “Alternative Songs” chart including “No Control” and “Give It Up.”

Ska and reggae artist Jimmy Cliff performs at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Thursday, June 21. Known for creating music with a cultural conscience, Cliff’s popularity sparked from 1972 The Harder They Come film and album. The projects gained acclaim in Europe in the U.S., exposing reggae music to listeners outside its homeland. Singles including “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “Many Rivers to Cross” quickly became FM radio staples, making reggae a universal sound. World renowned artists like Willie Nelson, Cher, New Order and Fiona Apple have performed and recorded Cliff’s material. He was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Better known as frontman of rock group Staind, Aaron Lewis takes his new country hits on the road including a stop at SOUNDWAVES poolside summer concert series on Friday, July 13.
Aaron Lewis formally joined the country world with the release of his debut EP, Town Line. Highlighted by the success of gold-selling single “Country Boy” featuring the legendary George Jones and Charlie Daniels, the seven-song EP reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release.
Lewis also received two ACM nominations for “Vocal Event of the Year” for “Country Boy” (for his work as artist and as co-producer) as well as two CMT nominations, one for “USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year” and another for “Collaborative Video of the Year.” Simultaneously, the music video for the single stirred similar fan fervor, surpassing 12 million views on YouTube and 3 million on CMT.com.
After a whirlwind year, Lewis began working on what would become his first full-length album, The Road, in the fall of 2011. On The Road, the Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and guitarist tells one story after another. American funk and soul artist Robert Randolph performs at SOUNDWAVES at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Thursday, Sept. 20.
Randolph’s debut album, Live at the Wetlands (2002), included musical influences from famous soul groups like Earth, Wind & Fire and Sly & The Family Stone. The album’s success paved the way for him to be recognized on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list in September 2003. Throughout the 2000s, some of the artist’s most popular work included ABC’s NBA theme song “We Got Hoops” and well-known single “Aint Nothing Wrong With That” which was used in several NBC commercials and Discovery Channel’s summer lineup.
Randolph’s newest album, We Walk This Road (2010), is a celebration of black music over the past 100 years and its social messages from the last 30 years. The songs tie together messages of hope and positivity among black culture with the purpose of inspiring people.
