Six-String Soldiers to Open the First Two Performances of “John Fogerty – Fortunate Son in Concert,” September 14 and 16 at The Venetian Las Vegas
Six-String Soldiers, a four-member ensemble of The United States Army Field Band, will take the stage at “John Fogerty – Fortunate Son in Concert,” September 14 and 16 at The Venetian® Las Vegas. The acclaimed quartet will open for the legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist, as he returns to The Venetian Theatre for a nine-show engagement, September 14-October 1. The performances coincide with National POW/MIA Recognition Day on September 16 which honors those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.
“I am honored and excited to have Six-String Soldiers opening my show, Fortunate Son at The Venetian Las Vegas,” said Fogerty. “Having served in the military myself, I feel it is important that we bring awareness to ensure that we take care of the condition of our veterans. It is a cause that is very dear to my heart.”
“Six-String Soldiers perform regularly at veterans’ association gatherings and provide a positive outlook,” said Fogerty. “I also love the fact that they play joyful bluegrass acoustic music. I am a big fan of them and love what they are doing for the guys and gals who serve and have served our country. I’m looking forward to having a great time with these guys.”
Six-String Soldiers is known for performing Americana, folk, bluegrass, and Irish music in an informal setting. The group brings its signature style to the smallest, most intimate venues, the busiest public places, street festivals, and music festivals across the United States. With its focus on audience interaction and sharing its members’ stories and experiences as American Soldiers, Six-String Soldiers offers one of the most personal musical experiences found in the United States Army. The group’s videos are popular on Facebook, YouTube and they have appeared on national shows such as Conan O’Brien and Morning Express with Robin Meade on HLN.
With a career spanning more than 50 years, Fogerty is hailed as one of the most influential musicians in rock history. Fogerty wrote, sang and produced numerous classic hits including “Born on the Bayou,” “Green River,” “Proud Mary,” and “Bad Moon Rising,” which led him to be named one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists (No. 40), 100 Greatest Songwriters (No. 40) and 100 Greatest Singers (No. 72) by Rolling Stone Magazine. Earning induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, he now adds author to his long list of accomplishments with his memoir “Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music” released last fall. The autobiographical account takes readers through the highs and lows of Fogerty’s life and musical career as a member of Creedence Clearwater Revival and as a solo artist.
“John Fogerty – Fortunate Son in Concert,” produced by Julie Fogerty and directed by Ken Ehrlich and Raj Kapoor, in association with AEG Live, runs September 14 – October 1, 2016.
