Shave Away Childhood Cancer with Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York Hotel & Casino
at 4th Annual St. Baldrick’s Extravaganza
Head shaving fundraiser to benefit childhood cancer research on March 2

Make a bold move in the fight against cancer and go bald with New York New York Hotel & Casino at Nine Fine Irishmen for the St. Baldrick’s Day head shaving event on Saturday, March 2 from 1 – 11 p.m. Guests of all ages are invited to enjoy a fun-filled day on the New York-New York Brooklyn Bridge with live music, drinks and more, where participants can shed their locks in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a national organization funding research for childhood cancer. The event is free and open to the public.

“Shaving your head is an incredible act of generosity and respect for the courageous children battling cancer, not to mention a fun way to build awareness for St. Baldrick’s,” said Rick Jost, vice president of human resources for New York-New York. “Nine Fine Irishmen and New York-New York look forward to welcoming the community to celebrate life and raise money for this important cause.”

In its fourth year, Nine Fine Irishmen’s St. Baldrick’s Day free events are amping up the excitement from years past with live performances by Spazmatics, Phoenix and Ri-Ra on the Brooklyn Bridge and restaurant patio, festive drinks from the outdoor bar and photo opportunities at the head-shaving booths to commemorate the day.

In exchange for their tresses, shavees can take advantage of a special “shavecation” package at New York-New York featuring hotel accommodations, 2-for-1 admission to The Roller Coaster, 2-for-1 breakfast at Il Fornaio and half off daybeds at the pool. As an added bonus, any adult who shaves their head will receive a free pint of beer at Nine Fine Irishmen and children will receive a free ride on The Roller Coaster. Participants will also be given free admission to Celtic Feis, a three-day Irish festival at New York-New York on St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Last year, more than 200 people came together to go bald, raising more than $100,000 for cancer research – this year’s event will keep up the momentum by matching last year with a fundraising goal of $100,000 to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Participants interested in shaving their heads for the cause can register online here for $50 or register day-of on site. Group registration is also available for teams and organizations.
