The Las Vegas Youth Jazz Orchestra brings together student musicians of all demographics and from as many schools as possible creating a community of musicians for the next generation. Directed by our Vice President and Director of Programming, Gary Cordell, the big band consists of students from high school seniors to as young as 11 years old. Collaboration is often the key to rapid yet pragmatic growth and we found that partnership in the Las Vegas Youth Orchestras organization.

JOI was founded to fill a need in the community for greater exposure to jazz studies and awareness, focusing on students of all ages. Through festivals, clinics, “Band Directors Academy,” “Jazz for Young People Concerts”, and other outreach programs, JOI celebrates the great American art form by promoting it through the next generation of performers, audiences, and consumers. JOI was founded by Las Vegas native Kenny Rampton who is currently a member of The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.
