SCHWEMMER NAMED WAC CO-MEN’S DIVING COACH OF THE YEAR
UNLV head diving coach Anne Schwemmer has been named the WAC Co-Men’s Diving Coach of the Year, the conference office announced Tuesday. This marks the first time a Rebel diving coach has earned the recognition in program history.
In her fourth year at the helm of the Rebel diving program, Schwemmer helped the Scarlet and Gray to its fifth straight WAC Championship. At the four-day conference competition, sophomore Alex Vazquez earned a gold medal in 3-meter dive with a WAC record of 450.75 and added a bronze medal in the 1-meter dive to give the Rebels crucial points in their championship win.
Under her leadership this season, the Scarlet and Gray men divers broke multiple program records. Vazquez broke his own program record twice on the 3-meter springboard and topped his own 1-meter program record twice throughout the season.
Additionally, Schwemmer had two divers compete at the NCAA Zone E Championships. Vazquez qualified for NCAA Championships in the 1-meter dive and competed in the 3-meter and senior Dima Tereshchenko competed in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform.
