SCHOOL OF ROCK GREEN VALLEY CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
WITH SPECIAL COMMUNITY EVENT SATURDAY, JAN. 24
Watch the above video showing School of Rock students earnestly expressing how the program has helped them on stage and in life.
The leader in performance-based music education, School of Rock has opened its second Nevada location – School of Rock Green Valley (55 S. Valle Verde Dr. #470) – and a Grand Opening Celebration is slated to rock the heart of Henderson on Saturday, Jan. 24.
Open to anyone with a passion for music and an eagerness to know what School of Rock is all about, this all ages event will include tours of the new school, meet and greets with the expert staff, light refreshments and small bites, sign ups for free trial lessons, scholarship information and much more.
“We’re going to keep classes and rehearsals in session during the Grand Opening event,” said Teddi Tarnoff, Regional Director for School of Rock in Las Vegas and Henderson. “It’s an opportunity for anyone on the fence about learning music to come see what we do and experience how we can impact your life, your child’s life, your friend’s lives. We’re a rigorous bunch and we work hard, but this is a welcoming and empowering atmosphere. School of Rock is the perfect escape from everything you thought you knew about traditional music education.”
During the event, Tarnoff has scheduled for a range of her current students at School of Rock Las Vegas West (the Valley’s first School of Rock location, which opened in 2011) to showcase the skills they’ve honed through live performances. Taking over the school and surrounding outdoor space, these performances from students ages 7 – 18 will blow attendees away and have you thinking you’re at a rock concert in a venue on the Las Vegas Strip.
School of Rock is an ingenious concept that gets kids and adults rocking out to classic and modern day hits while performing on stage with peers. Music programs are designed to create a supportive environment where music students of all skill levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. In addition to individual private music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, students also contextualize what they learn through weekly jam sessions with other students. The team dynamic spawns a motivating and personally fulfilling setting where kids feel inspired to excel.
“We have multiple programs to accommodate any skill level,” said Tarnoff. “Celebrity guests frequently stop by to speak, jam out with the students and offer industry insight and advice. We provide our students with live performing opportunities throughout Las Vegas and the United States. Scholarship fundraiser events are held multiple times each year to help locals gain better access to our unique music education. There really is nothing like this anywhere else and you will notice a change in our students, not just musically, but in how they live their lives.”
Tarnoff was one of the original 20 School of Rock students at the first school in Philadelphia. Years later, after more than 150 other schools have opened up around the world, she has remained an integral part and moved to Las Vegas two years ago to help the School of Rock mission flourish throughout Southern Nevada.
If you can’t make the Jan. 24 Grand Opening event, various open houses are scheduled for Jan. 10 and 17 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Jan. 13 and 20 from 4 – 7 p.m. Additionally, the students at School of Rock will play 12 concerts at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay on Jan. 10, 11, 17 and 18 with show times at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. each day. Anyone who is interested in the programs can also stop by either school at any point during operating hours.
