NEED A BIT MORE SATISFACTION?
MARTIN LAWRENCE GALLERIES IN LAS VEGAS
WELCOMES THE ROLLING STONES TO LAS VEGAS ON MAY 11
WITH MULTI-SENSORY WARHOL WEEKEND EXHIBITION
Gallery to Showcase Mick Jagger/Andy Warhol Suite;
Rolling Stones Music All Weekend and Multiple Showings of
Acclaimed Documentary, Crossfire Hurricane
With one of the only full-suite collections of Andy Warhol’s famed 10-print Jagger Suites in existence, the Martin Lawrence Galleries at The Forum Shops in Las Vegas is set to celebrate the arrival of the Rolling Stones in Las Vegas via a one-of-a-kind, multi-sensory exhibit during the weekend of May 10-12. The weekend long homage will feature the entire Warhol/Jagger Suite, as well as be accompanied by a soundtrack of the Rolling Stones classics and multiple screenings of their documentary, Crossfire Hurricane.
By the 1970’s Warhol no longer relied on found imagery and had expanded his range of subjects. He began to take his own photographs and the hand-made look became increasingly apparent by additions of collage elements using torn cheap graphic Color Aid papers, which were produced in a collection of colors. The series of ten screen prints of Mick Jagger were characteristic of this change in technique and the artist used an assortment of ten of his own photographs that he had taken of Jagger to create the now iconic collection. The Martin Lawrence Galleries in Las Vegas is a 26,000 square foot celebration of the arts, both classic and contemporary, and Warhol’s Jagger Suite has become the most visited area of the gallery’s vast collection.
“This gallery was built to showcase the masters from all of the eras, and Andy Warhol is unquestionably one of the most popular and definitive artists of the 20th Century,” explains Staci Goulet, gallery director. “We have a great collection of Warhol’s, but the Jagger Suite is by far the most popular and we are one of the few places in the world where you can view all 10 screen prints. When we heard the band was making Las Vegas one of the few stops on their tour this year, we decided it was the perfect opportunity to let all of their fans know about this special collection and we wanted to add a bit of rock n’ roll to gallery, so when you visit that weekend you will be surrounded by the Rolling Stones via art, music and film.”
