LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men’s basketball team (8-2) will be looking for its third straight victory as it travels to Stockton, California, to play Pacific (5-6) on Saturday, Dec 16 at 7 p.m. The game will mark just the second true road contest of the season for the Runnin’ Rebels.

UNLV’s only two losses of the season have both come in overtime. Since, the Runnin’ Rebels defeated Oral Roberts (92-66) on Dec. 5 and Illinois (89-82) last Saturday. Both games were played at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

The Runnin’ Rebels rank as the No. 3 rebounding team in the country with 45.2 rpg, while they are fifth in scoring with 91.5 ppg and fifth in assists per game with 19.6. Individually, junior forward Shakur Juiston and freshman forward Brandon McCoy rank in the top 10 in the country in rebounding. Juiston is eighth with 11.2 rpg, while McCoy is ninth with 11.1 rpg. UNLV is the only team in the country with two top-10 rebounders. McCoy ranks sixth in double-doubles with seven, while Juiston is 19th with five. Senior guard Jordan Johnson is seventh in the nation in assists with 7.6 apg.

The 2017-18 season marks the second under head coach Marvin Menzies for the Runnin’ Rebels. Menzies and his staff brought in a recruiting class for this year that has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country and features McCoy, who was a McDonald’s High School All-American, and Juiston, last year’s National Junior College Player of the Year. The Runnin’ Rebels also returned their leading scorer from last season – senior guard Jovan Mooring. Four Runnin’ Rebels are averaging double figures, led by McCoy’s 20.2 ppg, which ranks first in the Mountain West.

Saturday’s game will streamed at TheW.tv

Jon Sandler and former Runnin’ Rebel Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM and online via the UNLV Gameday App and TuneIn (link at UNLVRebels.com).
