RUNNIN’ REBELS OPEN MOUNTAIN WEST PLAY WEDNESDAY

UNLV at Fresno State at 7 p.m. on AT&T SportsNet; Marks earliest league start in program history
After suffering its third overtime loss of the season at Cincinnati on Saturday, the Runnin’ Rebels will open Mountain West play at Fresno State on Wednesday, December 4 at 7 p.m. It will mark the earliest start to conference play for the Runnin’ Rebels in program history.


UNLV (3-6) opened the 2019-20 season with an 86-71 win over Purdue Fort Wayne then dropped three straight games vs. Power 5 conference teams (vs. Kansas State in OT, at Cal in OT and at UCLA). UNLV is 2-3 in its last five contests.

Junior guard Amauri Hardy leads three Runnin’ Rebels averaging in double-figure scoring with 17.7 points per game (3rd in MW), while junior forward Mbacke Diong is the team’s leading rebounder with 10.6 per contest (2nd in MW, 15th in nation). UNLV is under new leadership this year in head coach T.J. Otzelberger.

Fresno State (2-4) is 2-0 at home this season, but has lost its last two contests: a neutral-site game vs. Saint Mary’s (68-58) and at Cal State Northridge (73-72). Three Bulldogs are averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Jarred Hyder’s 15.6 ppg.

Wednesday’s game will be televised by AT&T SportsNet with Drew Goodman, Dave Bollwinkel and Jenny Cavnar (sideline reporter) calling the action.
