LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men’s basketball team (11-2, 0-0 MW), winner of five straight games, will open its Mountain West season on Saturday, Dec. 30, at 8 p.m. vs. Boise State (11-2, 1-0 MW) at the Thomas & Mack Center.

During halftime, the 1977 Final Four team will be honored with a special presentation. Plus, the first 300 fans through the door will receive a voucher for a free popcorn. Bring the whole family and save with the Family Fun Pack: four tickets to the game, four hot dogs and four sodas for only $56 (a savings of $40). Single-game tickets and mini plans are on sale online at UNLVtickets.com or by phone at (702) 739-3267 (FANS).

The Runnin’ Rebels closed their non-conference campaign with their 11th win in 13 games vs. Northern Colorado (94-91) last Friday (Dec. 22) at home. UNLV’s only two losses this season both came in overtime – at Northern Iowa and vs. Arizona (now ranked No. 17/18) at home.

The Runnin’ Rebels are third in the country in field-goal percentage (52.4), fourth in rebounding (43.92 rpg), seventh in scoring (91.2 ppg) and 11th in 3-point field-goal percentage defense (28.1). Individually, junior forward Shakur Juiston and freshman forward Brandon McCoy rank in the top 10 in the country in rebounding. Juiston is seventh with 11.0 rpg, while McCoy is eighth with 10.9 rpg. UNLV is the only team in the nation with two top-10 rebounders. McCoy ranks third in double-doubles with nine, while Juiston is 16th with seven. Senior guard Jordan Johnson is 18th in the nation in assists with 6.5 apg.

The 2017-18 season marks the second under head coach Marvin Menzies for the Runnin’ Rebels. Menzies and his staff brought in a recruiting class for this year that has been ranked as high as No. 12 in the country and features McCoy, who was a McDonald’s High School All-American, and Juiston, last year’s National Junior College Player of the Year. The Runnin’ Rebels also returned their leading scorer from last season – senior guard Jovan Mooring. Four Runnin’ Rebels are averaging double figures, led by McCoy’s 18.9 ppg, which ranks first in the Mountain West.

Saturday’s game will be broadcast by AT&T SportsNet with Jerry Schemmel and Dave Bollwinkel calling the action. Jon Sandler and former Runnin’ Rebel Robert Smith will handle the UNLV radio call, which may be heard live on ESPN Radio 1100 AM/100.9 FM and online via the UNLV Gameday App and TuneIn (link at UNLVRebels.com).
