Rogue Warrior Cage Fighting Championship Benefitting Stars and Stripes Foundation at Cannery Casino

Rogue Warrior Military Cage Fighting Championship

at Cannery Casino June 16

The Cannery Casino is proud to host the Rogue Warrior Cage Fighting Championships, a competition that honors wounded military service members on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 7 p.m.

The Mixed Martial Arts competition is a patriotic event that will benefit the Stars and Stripes Foundation, a 501(c) 3 non profit organization based in Las Vegas, which offers support to wounded military service members, veterans and their families.

The Rogue Warrior Championship event will feature professional fighters who are active military or military veterans, and are representing their particular branch of the military — Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The event will pit Marines against the Army, Navy against the Air Force and so on. The fights takes place inside a steel cage and are sanctioned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

The main event will feature UFC and Air Force Veteran Rich Clementi meeting the U.S. Navy’s up and coming MMA star Robert Washington. The event is hosted by the Rogue Warrior himself Dick Marcinko, the creator and first commander of the US Navy’s elite team Seal Team VI. “These fighters fight for their branch of the service, their unit and their wounded. They fight their hearts out. This will be one of the most emotional fighting events that you will ever see,” Marcinko said.

The event will also include Color Guards from all four services, as well as a special dedication to wounded warriors.

The Stars and Stripes Foundation was co-founded in 2006 by Mark Christianson. It’s mission is to ensure that all military service members wounded in combat are not forgotten. The all volunteer organization has offered support and assistance to many warrior families in a variety of ways including the Paws and Stripes program which provides assistance dogs for wounded soldiers. In addition the foundation has funded all-expenses paid trips to Las Vegas for soldiers and their families, provided Wounded Warrior Project backpacks for soldiers in the hospital, as well as donations to the Fisher House which houses military families for free while they support a wounded family member or spouse.
