ROBERTO’S TACO SHOP OPENS AT UNIVERSITY GATEWAY ON MARYLAND PARKWAY
University Gateway, the pioneering mixed-use residential, retail and office project on Maryland Parkway adjacent to UNLV and developed by G2 Capital Development, announces the reopening of the original location of Roberto’s Taco Shop. The eatery, which first opened in 1990 at 1220 E. Harmon Ave. near UNLV, shuttered in January 2020 when its strip mall became slated for redevelopment by G2. Its new home, on the ground floor of the high-rise University Gateway building at 4700 S. Maryland Pkwy., is open 8 a.m. to midnight.
“We’re proud Roberto’s is now open at University Gateway,” said Frank J Marretti III, founder, G2 Capital Development. “Their iconic taco shop has been a fixture in the neighborhood for 30 years and makes a welcome addition to our mix of eclectic eateries and other amenities. I’m sure it will be a frequent destination for everyone who lives and works around the UNLV corridor.”
University Gateway’s first floor retail also houses Peet’s Coffee, eateries such as Crumbl Cookies and Ike’s Love & Sandwiches, the convenience of a branch of America First Credit Union and the soon-to-open Pizza Forte, Sushi Joes and the Brew Tea Bar, plus more retail shops to come.

ABOUT ROBERTO’S TACO SHOP
Roberto Robledo and his wife Dolores began their career in the food industry providing tortillas to stores and restaurants when they successfully opened their own tortilla factory in San Ysidro, California in the summer of 1964. Soon after opening the tortilla factory, they expanded the venture and open a traditional style taco shop. In 1964, Roberto Robledo began operating San Diego’s first taco shop and, in 1990, Roberto’s Taco Shop opened its first Nevada location. The eatery now has more than 60 locations—57 of which are in Nevada—and remains synonymous with fresh, authentic Mexican food served at modest prices and reasonable portions. All along, Roberto’s has kept the Robledo family’s commitment to quality, service and uncompromising fidelity to family recipes. For more information, visit www.robertostacoshop.com.
