Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum Unveils

Eclectic April Schedule of Events

The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum has announced a vibrant April event schedule, including a master-guided gardening experience; a new movement series for all ages; a senior-focused yoga class; and an immersive sound bath.

On Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the museum will once again partner with Vegas Kids Zone for our FREE First Saturday, a day of creativity, exploration and fun. Guests will embark on a scavenger hunt through the museum and its surrounding gardens, uncovering hidden treasures and learning about art and nature. Guests will then enjoy a stroll through the scenic grounds and discover how the natural world inspired Abbey’s artistic masterpieces. Finally, guests will enjoy a stained-glass coloring page or have the option to bring their own sketchbook for a self-guided creative experience. Tickets are free but should be reserved in advanced here.

On Saturday, April 5 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the museum will host “Planting from Seed,” a special interaction collaboration with Fancy Pants Gardens founder, JoJami Tyler. This 60-minute experience will invite attendees to plant their own seeds with the guidance of a master gardener and certified gardenary coach. The event will take place outdoors in the museum’s gardens, weather permitting, and attendees are advised to dress comfortably for the elements. Materials will be provided and each attendee will also receive a bonus gardening gift. The museum encourages attendees to explore its exhibits and grounds before or after the gardening session. Tickets are $30 per session and are available for purchase here.

On Sunday, April 6 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., the museum, in collaboration with Nicola Lea Kilyushik, will introduce a new movement series “Moving Meditation: Introduction to Qi Gong & Tai Chi.” Qigong is an ancient practice that focuses on cultivating and circulating vital energy (qi) throughout the body while tai chi emphasizes a series or “dance” of coordinated movements sometimes referred to as “forms.” Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Participants should bring water, a yoga mat and any additional supports needed. This session is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced practitioners. Tickets are $30 per session and are available for purchase here.

On Sunday, April 6 from 1 to 2 p.m., the museum will host its Yoga Class for Seniors, led by Maureen Heher Karaffa, a Las Vegas-based yoga instructor with over 40 years of experience. The class is designed to be adaptable, catering to those who prefer a seated yoga experience and will focus on improving balance, strength, and flexibility for older adults, promoting overall well-being through guided stretching and movements. While the session is senior-focused, guests of all ages are encouraged to participate. Tickets are $20 per session and are available for purchase here.

On Sunday, April 27 from 12:30 to 2 p.m., the museum will host an immersive Sound Bath session led by sound healing expert, Terry Mahoney. The session will envelop participants in soothing and restorative vibrations. Guests are encouraged to bring water, yoga mats, blankets, and pillows to enhance their comfort during the experience. Tickets are $30 per session and are available for purchase here.
