Participants will have the opportunity to explore the visual and literary works of Rita Deanin Abbey, led by Master of Fine Arts candidate JM Huck, who will highlight nature-themed poetry from Abbey’s incredible collection. The event will culminate with readings of nature poetry inspired by one of Abbey’s cherished locations, Corn Creek, inside the Desert National Wildlife Refuge. Attendees are invited and encouraged to engage by reading from the provided poetry materials.
Huck co-founded WeWrite! (@wewritelv on Instagram), a literary arts group that offers support for new/emerging writers to develop their craft. Huck’s poetry synthesizes her understanding of culture, history, nature and science. Her poetry has also been nominated for Best of the Net.
