Rí Rá Las Vegas Fights Childhood Cancers With A St. Baldrick’s Foundation Head-Shaving Fundraiser March 1

Rí Rá Las Vegas, located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place, hosts its third annual St. Baldrick’s signature head-shaving event on Saturday, March 1 to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives.

Starting at noon, registered attendees will shed their locks to support the fight against childhood cancer. Those looking to make a bald statement can register online (www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/7982/2014) to shave at Rí Rá or to donate time or money to the cause. Once registered, volunteers will raise funds for St. Baldrick’s by soliciting donations from friends, family and anyone willing to spare some change.

Those who sign up to shave at Rí Rá will go bald March 1 at the pub. Local barbers from The Art of Shaving at Mandalay Place will volunteer their time to give the haircuts, which will continue throughout the day. Those wishing to keep their hair can donate funds online and at the pub.

During its first two years participating in the event, Rí Rá raised nearly $40,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation and lifesaving childhood cancer research. This year, the pub’s goal is to raise more than $20,000.

About St. Baldrick’s Foundation
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancers and give survivors long and healthy lives. St. Baldrick’s coordinates its signature head-shaving events worldwide where participants collect pledges to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer, raising money to fund research. Since 2005, St. Baldrick’s has awarded more than $127 million to support lifesaving research, making the Foundation the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants. St. Baldrick’s funds are granted to some of the most brilliant childhood cancer research experts in the world and to younger professionals who will be the experts of tomorrow. Funds awarded also enable hundreds of local institutions to participate in national pediatric cancer clinical trials, and the new International Scholar grants train researchers to work in developing countries. About Rí Rá Las Vegas
Crafted in the warm pub style of 19th century Ireland, Rí Rá Las Vegas is located inside The Shoppes at Mandalay Place.  The authentic Irish pub features a multitude of artifacts that were carefully restored in Wicklow, Ireland and shipped to their new home in Las Vegas.  Rí Rá Las Vegas contains an authentic Victorian Shop bar that began its life in Ireland in the 1880s, a whiskey bar adorned with an original glazed jewelry cabinet from 1900, an oak floor from a whiskey distillery and an 8-foot-tall, 500-pound carved plaster statue of St. Patrick dating back to 1850.  The pub hosts live entertainment seven nights a week in a music room constructed with artifacts dating back to 1890 from the Olympia Theater in Dublin, Ireland. Born and raised in Dublin, Rí Rá Las Vegas owners David Kelly and Ciaran Sheehan have been close friends since they were 14-years-old. Kelly and Sheehan later partnered with Jay Luther, whom Kelly met while working for Guinness. Rí Rá Las Vegas is one of 11 pubs the trio has opened in the U.S.
