On Friday, May 26, critically acclaimed American folk outfit CAAMP made their Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas debut to a packed crowd of over 1,900 fans. Captivating the room with their signature sound and emotionally charged lyrics, lead singer and guitarist Taylor Meier alongside childhood friend and co-founder Evan Westfall and bandmates took the crowd on a dreamy ride through the band’s latest release “Lavender Days.”
Opening with a rendition of “Believe,” the five-piece was romantically backlit by cotton candy pinks and purples, reminiscent of their 2022 release namesake. The set started off slow and steady, with the group breaking into dreamy renditions of their greatest hits, both new and old, like “Peach Fuzz” and “Come With Me Now.” The excitement continued to build as Meier traded his electric guitar for an acoustic, inciting an uproar from the crowd as he stummed the first chords to hit song “The Otter.”
“Cheers!” exclaimed Matt Vinson, bassist, as he chugged his drink and the crowd cheered him on. The lights then went dark, as the glow from Meier’s cigarette lit the room and he took a seat on the edge of the stage to begin an intimate rendition of “Fever.” The crowd sang along word for word as the song picked up tempo and excitement rang through the Bowl with fans’ clapping, stomping, hootin’ and hollerin’.
“Thanks everyone for coming. We’re gonna play a few more songs and get of here,” said Meier as the band returned to the stage for a three-part encore. Meier surprised fans by bringing out Cassie Wilson of opening act Cous for an acoustic duet of Fleetwood Mack’s “Dreams.” The feel-good vibes were palpable throughout the venue as everyone sang along and swayed to the American classic hit.
