REBELS HIT THE ROAD FOR NEXT FIVE GAMES

The UNLV baseball team (12-17, 7-8 MW) will head over to the Golden State for the next five games, beginning with a midweek series against Loyola Marymount (17-12) set for Monday with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. The Hustlin’ Rebels will conclude the series Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m., before heading up the coast for a three-game Mountain West series against San Jose State (15-11, 8-4 MW) scheduled to begin Friday evening at 6:05 p.m.
The Lions come into the midweek affair after a 3-1 week, falling to USC Tuesday evening before sweeping Portland over the weekend.
UNLV enters the week with a 3-1 record last week as well, defeating Grand Canyon Tuesday afternoon, before taking two of three games against UNR over the weekend.
The Spartans come into this weekend’s series after winning two of three games against New Mexico over the weekend. San Jose State will play a two-game series against UC Santa Barbara before welcoming the Rebels to town on Friday.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
– UNLV and LMU have squared off a total of 52 times with the first-ever meeting taking place at Earl E. Wilson Stadium in 1967. The Hustlin’ Rebels own the advantage in the all-time series, 32-20. However, the Lions have won three of the last four games played at George C. Page Stadium.
– The Rebels and the Spartans have squared off a total of 83 times with the first-ever meeting taking place in 1975. UNLV leads the all-time series, notching 49 wins to San Jose State’s 34. The Scarlet & Gray have won five of the last six, including sweeping the Spartans at home last season.

HUSTLIN‘ REBELS CLAIM WEEKLY AWARD
– Reese Lueck received the first Mountain West Player of the Week award for the Rebels this season, being named the Freshman of the Week following UNLV’s perfect opening weekend February 20.

– The Hustlin’ Rebels rank second in the Mountain West in batting average at .291. They also rank second in runs scored (225) and in triples (13). They rank third in slugging percentage (.440), RBIs (194) and hits (308), and fourth in home runs (23) and in doubles (63).
– Alex Pimentel leads the conference in triples (5), is tied for second in sacrifice flies (3), sits third in on-base percentage (0.488), ranks fourth in batting average (.375), sits fifth in runs scored (28) and in RBI (29) and is tied for third in walks (19).
– Jacob Sharp leads the MW in sacrifice flies with four, sits fourth in home runs (6),ranks fifth in on base + slugging percentage (1.046), is sixth in batting average (.354) and is tied for sixth in runs scored (27).
– Austin Kryszczuk is tied for first in the conference with Sharp in sacrifice flies (4) and is tied for third in walks (19).
– Rylan Charles is tied for second in HBP (6) and ranks fourth in at bats (129).
