UNLV shoots a season-low tournament score of 7-under 857 at Miami’s Hurricane Invitational

UNLV women’s golf posted a season-best fourth-place finish in its fall tournament finale at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Miami at Biltmore Golf Course (Par 72 – 6,100 yards).

 

During the two-day event, the Rebels shot a season-low score of 7-under 857 through 54 holes. Joining them among the top-5 finishers on the team leaderboard, SMU (-16) won the team title, Miami (-12) finished second, South Florida (-11) took third and BYU (-5) finished fifth.

 

Pacing the Scarlet & Gray’s lineup in the individual standings, senior Nicole Lorup landed inside the top 10 in a tie for eighth at 3-under. Additionally, the Rebels had three other top-25 finishers that shot even par or better, as sophomores Toa Yokoyama (-1) and McKenzi Hall (-1) tied for 19th, and freshman Thienna Huynh (E) tied for 22nd. Super senior Veronica Joels (+13) rounded out UNLV’s scoring lineup and senior Morgan Goldstein (+14) wrapped up play as an individual.

 

Winning the individual trophy, BYU’s Allysha Mae Mateo shot a 7-under 209 in three rounds. She was accompanied in the top 5 by the Hurricanes’ Natalia Guseva (-6), USF’s Alizee Vidal (-6) and SMU’s Mackenzie Lee (-6) tied for second and San Diego State’s Bernice Ilas (-5) in fifth.

  • UNLV’s opening-round 10-under 278 matched the sixth-best round as a team in all-time program history.
  • Meanwhile, the Rebels’ final 54-hole score of 857 was the seventh-lowest team score in school history.
