Plaza Hotel & Casino to again light up downtown Las Vegas sky with Welcome to the Weekend fireworks, every Friday night, May 2 – Sept. 26
After the rave reviews and enormous excitement for last summer’s Welcome to the Weekend Summer Friday Fireworks Shows at the Plaza Hotel & Casino, the iconic property in downtown Las Vegas will bring back the live fireworks shows on Friday nights at 9:15 p.m., starting earlier in the year on May 2 and running longer through Sept. 26.
Inspired by the fireworks shows at Disneyland, the Plaza’s Welcome to the Weekend Summer Friday Fireworks will again light up the sky above downtown Las Vegas and be part of a festive summer block party atmosphere at the property’s rooftop pool deck and Carousel Bar.
“We had amazing feedback from guests about our Friday fireworks shows last summer so we decided to extend it to run a total of 22 weeks this year,” said Jonathan Jossel, CEO of the Plaza Hotel & Casino. “Summertime weather in Las Vegas starts earlier and lasts longer so why shouldn’t our fireworks?”
Noting that several downtown hotel/casinos as well as the Fremont Street Experience and First Friday will have programming and special events that cross-promote the fireworks every Friday, Jossel added, “We are creating an unforgettable summertime party in downtown Las Vegas, and we thank our downtown neighbors for their support.”
The fireworks shot from the Plaza’s towers will be visible to the thousands of tourists and locals in downtown Las Vegas and miles beyond. Plaza hotel guests will be able to enjoy the fireworks from an exclusive viewing party on its rooftop pool deck where the fireworks will be “ignited” by a special guest pushing a detonator button on an oversized TNT box. The Friday night rooftop pool party for hotel guests starts at 7 p.m. and will feature a DJ, photo opportunities, and drink specials.
This year, every guest (21 years or older) who purchases a drink at the Plaza Pool’s rooftop cocktail bar between 7 and 9:30 p.m. will be entered into a raffle for a weekly prize drawn immediately after the fireworks show.
After the fireworks conclude, the DJ-led party continues for all at Carousel Bar under the Plaza’s iconic dome on Main Street until 11 p.m.
The Plaza’s fireworks will be dependent on weather conditions and are subject to change or cancellation. A portion of Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during the fireworks show. Updates will be available on the Plaza’s social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
