Indie rock duo Tegan and Sara made a special appearance at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas to check out their one-of-a-kind memorabilia showcase on Thursday, Oct. 24. The twin sisters posed for photographs with fans and the display, which symbolizes their unique career milestones as internationally-celebrated songwriters, performers, and artists. The case features various pieces of Tegan and Sara’s musical history including a drumhead, cropped red leather jacket and red blazer worn during a performance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” as well as an acoustic guitar used during a recording of their live album and DVD titled “Get Along.” After, they met with Curator and Creative Consultant Warwick Stone who gave them a behind-the-scenes tour of his studio to see more rare memorabilia.
Best known for their creative ability to bridge the pop and indie worlds, Tegan and Sara have allowed their music to cross all traditional boundaries of genre, from being covered by The White Stripes to collaborating with superstar DJs such as Tiësto and David Guetta. Over the course of their career, the group has sold more than 1 million albums, toured with acts such as Cyndi Lauper, The Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer and Neil Young, and performed at countless festivals around the world. Most recently, Tegan and Sara released their 7th studio album Heartthrob, which debuted at No. 3 on the “Billboard 200” chart.
The memorabilia at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is hand selected and carefully placed in cases throughout the resort by Stone to honor legends in the entertainment industry. Some of the unique displays include a shimmery, white glove once worn by the one-and-only Michael Jackson; an array of rare collection items from The Beatles; the original drum kit Rick Allen of Def Leppard used following a near fatal car accident; a Nirvana display featuring a leather jacket autographed by Kurt Cobain; and many more.
