People Over Profit Foundation & Silver State Schools Credit Union Announces 2022 Scholarship Program Recipients

Silver State Schools Credit Union’s (SSSCU) Board of Directors announces its ten scholarship recipients for the 2022 People Over Profit (POP) Foundation Scholarship program. Each winner selected is a Southern Nevada High School Senior and will receive a $2,000 scholarship, renewable for up to four years, for a total of up to $8,000, to use towards higher education.

The award-winning credit union has awarded more than $800K in scholarships to graduating Nevada High School Seniors since 1989. The scholarship program recognizes seniors who demonstrate excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and community involvement.

Scholarship awards are named after past and current Board Members as well as the Credit Union’s charitable foundation, the Silver State Schools CU People Over Profit (POP) Foundation. In Recognition of the 31 years of volunteer service to Silver State Schools Credit Union, the Teresa Yeoman Scholarship Award was established as part of the ten 2022 scholarships being awarded. Ms. Yeoman, who retired from the Board of Directors in 2021, served on the Board for 14 of her 31 years of service, most recently as Board Chairman.

“Every year, our applicants continue to increase the level of dedication to their academic and extra-curricular achievements, as well as their unwavering commitment to making a difference with their peers, schools, and community,” said Scott A. Arkills, President and CEO, Silver State Schools Credit Union. “Our recipients have the qualities to become the future leaders of our communities, and we are there to support them as they begin the next phase of their lives.”

Selected by the Scholarship Committee of the Board of Directors, the winning students were recognized at the Silver State Schools Credit Union virtual Annual Meeting of Members, which was held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. PST. The 2022 scholarship recipients are:
