St. George Production Features Original Music, Lyrics and Combines Talents of
Seasoned Actors with Up-And-Coming Young Professionals
This holiday season, Utahns are invited to experience a first-ever, original musical production of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” at St. George’s Electric Theater through Friday, Dec. 16. Featuring an original script by Rhett Guter, original music and lyrics by Adam Record, direction and choreography by Rhett Guter and Abi Dutson as music director, “A Christmas Carol” is presented by the St. George-based non-profit organization Encore Performing Arts. Encore is dedicated to providing quality performing arts instruction and mentoring for children, the production will combine the talents of seasoned actors with up-and-coming young professionals.
“We’re overjoyed to have the opportunity to stage a production of this caliber in Utah for the Christmas season,” said Record. “It’s an honor to be bringing an original version of this classic holiday tale to life for spectators of all ages.”
Recounting the story of the elderly miser who is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas’ past, present and future, Ebenezer Scrooge will be performed by professional actor Corbin Allred, known for his performances in films such as “Saints and Soldiers” and “The Saratov Approach.”
As part of Encore’s first-ever Show with a Pro production, younger actors in the cast received the opportunity to rehearse and learn from professional actors and mentors to help enrich their skills and the Southern Utah performing arts community.
“A Christmas Carol” will be performed through Friday, Dec. 16 at the Electric Theater located at 68 East Tabernacle Street, St. George, Utah 84770. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays. Tickets are $23 for adults and $13 for children 12 and under.
