OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE’S ‘LAS VEGAS GREAT SANTA RUN’ LACES UP FOR 2017 SEASON
WITH EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION SPECIAL
Early registrants receive limited-time discount for Opportunity Village’s annual fun run
Santas are coming back to town as Las Vegas’ favorite charity, Opportunity Village, has opened up its early bird registration for the 13th annual Las Vegas Great Santa Run. This event has become the largest gathering of Santa-clad runners in the world and will head back to Downtown Las Vegas on Saturday, December 2.
The early bird discount for this year’s fun run presents a limited-time offer for any Saint Nicks who register for the 5K or 1-mile Kris Kringle Jingle Walk now through September 4. The discounted price is $25, and free for children three and under. Paid registration includes a five-piece Santa suit, a commemorative medal and a goodie bag with items from a variety of event sponsors. Participants are also encouraged to bring their furry friends, who can join in on the fun for $10 and will receive a doggie bag full of canine treats. Registration is available on the Great Santa Run website.
The Great Santa Run raises funds and awareness for Opportunity Village’s ongoing programs and services. This allows unparalleled opportunities to enhance and support more than 2,000 Southern Nevada residents with intellectual disabilities and the families who love them.
The holiday event will return this year to compete against rival Liverpool and others for the international title as the No. 1 Santa run through the “World Santa Alliance.”
About Opportunity Village
Opportunity Village is a not-for-profit organization that serves people within our community with significant intellectual disabilities, to improve their lives and the lives of their families. Seven families who were determined to give their children with disabilities the best lives possible founded Opportunity Village in 1954. Now, more than 60 years later, Opportunity Village is one of the most recognized and respected organizations of its type in the United States. As Nevada’s largest employer of people with disabilities, Opportunity Village serves more than 2,000 individuals annually, providing vocational training, employment, habilitation and social recreation programs and services that make their lives more purposeful and interesting. Opportunity Village citizens – individuals who were previously considered unemployable – work at Opportunity Village’s Employment Resource Centers and in jobs throughout the community, collectively earning wages amounting to more than $3.7 million in 2016. They are hard-working and diligent, proudly paying taxes and happily leading more fulfilling lives. Primarily a self-funded organization, Opportunity Village generates the majority of its operational funding through its employment contracts and fundraising efforts such as the Magical Forest and Great Santa Run, saving Nevada taxpayers more than $37 million annually.
