Nominations Now Open for Clark County Medical Society’s
2022 Winged Heart Awards Recognizing Nurses, Nonprofits, and First Responders
The Clark County Medical Society (CCMS) is now accepting nominations for its tenth annual Winged Heart Awards. Established in 2013 by former CCMS President Dr. George Alexander to honor nurses, health-focused nonprofit organizations, and first responders in Clark County. The public can submit nominations through April 15, 2022 at www.clarkcountymedical.org/wingedheart.
Winners are selected by CCMS’ Presidents’ Committee that includes Dr. George Alexander, 2012-13 president; Dr. Staci McHale, 2021-22 president; Dr. Deborah Kuhls, 2020-21 president, and Dr. Nicholas Fiore, 2022-23 president-elect.
“The Winged Heart Awards are an opportunity for us to come together and recognize the incredible dedication of our local nurses, nonprofits, and first responders who are raising the bar of healthcare in our community,” said Dr. Alexander. “We encourage residents of Southern Nevada to submit a nomination for someone who has made an impact on their life.”
Criteria to be nominated are: nurses must be currently affiliated with local practice or hospital and must provide a necessary service to patients on an inpatient or outpatient basis. A nonprofit nominee must be a registered 501(c)(3) whose mission is to provide outstanding medical/healthcare work and promotes wellness within Clark County. First responders must be currently working in Clark County. Staff and
family members of the Presidents’ Committee are not eligible for nomination; additional rules and regulations may apply. Additional information is available at www.clarkcountymedical.org/wingedheart.
Winged Heart Award nominees will be honored during the CCMS 68th annual Awards Ceremony Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Hyde Lounge in T-Mobile Arena.
Past Winged Heart Award winners include: Walt West, Boulder City Fire Department (2020), The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation (2020), LVMPD Officer Charleston Hartfield (2018), Trauma Intervention Program (TIP) of Southern Nevada (2018), Lynn Hansen, RN, (2018), Kelly Crawford, RN, (2017), Academy of Human Development (2017), Krystal Coffman, RN, (2016), Jalen’s Gift Foundation (2016), Tammy Wert, RN, (2015), and Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation (2015), Janet Maran, RN, (2014), and Cure 4 the Kids (2014).
That evening CCMS also honor its 2022 Rising Star Award recipients that include students from Nevada medical schools who are nominated by the schools’ deans.
