The No. 25/23 UNLV women’s basketball team are back on home court to host New Mexico on Saturday, Jan. 20. The Lady Rebels are currently in sole possession of first-place in the Mountain West with an undefeated 5-0 record.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT: UNLV holds the overall series 41-27 against New Mexico. In the last five meetings, the Lady Rebels hold a one game advantage, 3-2. The Lobos have an overall record of 12-6 and 3-2 in MW play. New Mexico is coming off a big 68-61 win over Wyoming and handed the Cowgirls their first league play loss. New Mexico has four players in double-figures including Nyah Wilson who is the leading scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game. Charlotte Kohl is the leading rebounder for the Lobos, averaging 7.9 points per game.

TICKETS: Tickets are $6 when purchased in advance online at UNLVTickets.com. General admission tickets at the door are $10 ($8 for seniors, UNLV faculty/staff and alumni). UNLV students and Nevada high school students (presenting student ID) as well as all children 12 and under enter free.
BROADCAST INFO: The game will air live locally on the Silver State Sports and Entertainment Network (KVVU 5.2, Cox 125) and stream online on the Mountain West Network (theMW.com/watch). Play-by-play announcer Wyatt Tomchek and color analyst Kevaney Martin have the call.
SQUAD LEADERS: Desi-Rae Young leads the Lady Rebels in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game and is the leading rebounder (8.9 rebounds per game). Kiara Jackson leads UNLV in assists per game (5.3) and is the second-leading scorer averaging 12.4 points per game. Alyssa Durazo-Frescas is the third leading scorer on the squad, averaging 9.3 points and Alyssa Brown is the second leading rebounder, bringing down 8.2 boards per game, respectively.
LAST TIME ON THE COURT: Four Lady Rebels were in double-figures as the no. 25/23 UNLV women’s basketball team held onto a 67-60 win over San Diego State at Viejas Arena on Wednesday morning. The Lady Rebels secured their 29th straight victory over Mountain West foes. Nneka Obiazor was red hot off the bench as she led the Lady Rebels with a season-high 18 points by shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 4-for-7 from long range. Obiazor’s four made three-pointers is a season-high and was one shy away from tying her career-high of five. Desi-Rae Young recorded her 41st career double-double and sixth of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds (two offensive, nine defensive). Jasmyn Lott put up 11 points and was a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line, while Amarachi Kimpson added 10 points, respectively.
LADY REBELS TOP-25: The Lady Rebels remain in the Top-25 in Week 11 of the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today Coaches’ poll at No. 25 in the AP poll and No. 23 in the Coaches’ poll. UNLV first saw the top-25 in Week 6 of the season ranking at No. 23 in the AP poll and No. 24 in the USA Today poll. The Lady Rebels fell out of the rankings in Week 7, but continued to receive votes.
SQUAD UP: UNLV returns nine of the 12 players from its 2023 championship squad including three starters and Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year, Kiara Jackson and MVP of the Mountain West Championship, Desi-Rae Young. New to the squad this season are four freshmen, forward McKinna Brackens, point guard Amarachi Kimpson, guard Macy Spencer and forward Meadow Roland, and junior transfer Macie James, a forward from Oklahoma State.
