NEW ARTS & CULTURE SERIES THE CENTERPIECE KICKS OFF FIRST EVENT WITH STILL BLACK: A PORTRAIT OF BLACK TRANSMEN DOCUMENTARY SCREENING
Director Kortney Ryan Ziegler hosting Q&A following the screening on June 29
The Centerpiece, a queer arts and culture series, will make its Downtown Las Vegas debut at The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada (The Center) on June 29 from 1 – 3 p.m. with a screening of the documentary STILL BLACK: a portrait of black transmen and a Q&A with director Kortney Ryan Ziegler.
Brought to life by the stories of six diverse transmen, Ziegler has created a documentary weaving together themes of love, family, passing and sex. In the award-winning STILL BLACK, viewers are welcomed with vivid discussions and each man brings a colorful and intricate richness as they describe their relationships with themselves as well as others in their lives.
The Centerpiece, launching its inaugural season for the STILL BLACK screening on June 29, is a series of free arts and culture events thoughtfully assembled for Nevada’s LGBTQ and allied communities. Boasting a broad array of subject matter and artistic medium, each Centerpiece will offer a diverse yet accessible glimpse into the compelling and often complex world in which we exist. The series is rooted in LGBTQ themes, but all events are meant to be enjoyed by the larger community.
