Nevada Craft Brewers to Create Inaugural Collaboration Ale for
Great Vegas Festival of Beer

Motley Brews is partnering with the Nevada Craft Brewers Association (NCBA) to create its first-ever collaboration beer —dubbed Pyrite Pale Ale—to serve as the official brew at the Great Vegas Festival of Beer.  Local craft brewers will begin the brewing process with a special ceremony on Friday, March 22 and the first keg of Pyrite Pale Ale will be tapped during the festival on Saturday, April 27 at Sunset Park.

Nevada Craft Brewers including Matt Marino of Joseph James Brewing Co., Anthony Gibson of Tenaya Creek Brewery, Dave Otto of Big Dog’s Brewing Co. and David Pascual of Chicago Brewing will gather in the Joseph James Brewery on Friday to begin brewing Pyrite Pale Ale, a process that will take about four weeks to complete.

The brewers aim to create an Extra Pale Ale with about 6.3 percent alcohol content, flavored and dry-hopped for aroma with Simcoe and Amarillo Hops, two hops varieties especially beloved to American Craft Brewers. The resulting ale will be a hoppy, aromatic and bold brew in a deceivingly light and summery body; the perfect complement to the spring festival.

Pyrite Pale Ale will premiere in the NCBA Pavilion at the Great Vegas Festival of Beer, where it will be showcased alongside several special one-off brews from local craft brewers.  The collaboration project represents a community effort engaging the brewers, drinkers and festival-goers.

“Craft beer is really a unifier in communities; local innovation and industry is something everyone can get excited about and enjoy, especially when it’s tasty,” said Motley Brews Founder Brian Chapin.  “Our festival participants are directly supporting local brewers and this is a way for them to say ‘thank you.’ We’re excited to see how it comes out.”

In addition, Motley Brews has launched a contest for beer enthusiasts to get involved by designing the official logo for Pyrite Pale Ale. The winner of the contest will receive VIP tickets to the Great Vegas Festival of Beer.  For more contest information, please visit the Great Vegas Beer Blog.
