Downtown Summerlin® is pleased to announce the return of the third annual Lei Day parade that will celebrate and kick off Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This fun, colorful and visual parade is set for Thursday, May 1 at 6 p.m. along Park Centre Drive.
The parade, in partnership with BESTAgency, features local cultural organizations including Hot Lava Productions, Ka Pa Hula O Ke Ola Nani, Na Hula Hali’a Aloha Cultural Preservation, The Filipino Club, and Te Nati Hula.
Parade watchers will experience performances such as the Ancient Hula Kahiko accompanied by a chanter who tells the story; the free-flowing modern style of Hula Auana; the passion and pride of the Māori Haka; the rapid hip-shaking movements of the Tahitian Dances, and much more!
Lei Day has become one of the most celebrated parades we host, said Halee Harczynski, senior director, marketing, Downtown Summerlin. Working with select local organizations to understand and honor the Asian Pacific culture is inspiring. Its such a strong addition to our parade line-up and one we look forward to every year!
The Lei Day parade takes place on Park Centre Drive. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the parade at 6:00 p.m. The parade is complimentary and open to the public.
