Take Your Kids for a Walk on the Wild Side

Fourth Annual Hike & Seek nature events sponsored by National Wildlife Federation

National Wildlife Federation (NWF), America’s largest conservation organization, is pleased to announce the fourth annual Hike & Seek™ cities happening around the country this fall.  Hike & Seek is a cross between a scavenger hunt and a 1-2 mile hike with live wildlife displays, activities and fun interactive stations along the trail.

The fourth annual 2013 Hike & Seek will be held in the following cities this fall:

9.28.13            Minneapolis, MN       Lebanon Hills Regional Park

10.5.13            Seattle, WA                Seward Park

10.5.13            New York City           Central Park

10.19.13          Bernardsville, NJ        New Jersey Audubon/Scherman-Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary

10.19.13          Washington, DC         Seneca Creek State Park

10.26.13          Baltimore, MD           Druid Hills Park

11.2.13            Atlanta , GA               Piedmont Park

11.2.13            Los Angeles, CA        Griffith Park

11.9.13            Houston, TX               Cullinan Oyster Creek Park (City of Houston Park)

People are encouraged to sign up at www.hikeandseek.org early to buy tickets and then show up ready to spend some family time in nature. The one to two mile go-at-your-own-pace hike will have interactive “Stop & Study” nature stations with engaging learning activities including fun nature crafts, live wildlife displays, and much more.  This year’s events will include a station highlighting an activity about trees themed around Disney Junior’s hit animated series “Jake and the Never Land Pirates.” Every child participant is given a Map & Mission Guidebook to direct their path and will receive an Honorary Junior Naturalist badge from Ranger Rick at the end of the hike. Hike & Seek is made possible by support from Disney, REI, Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, Mattel, and National Recreation and Park Association.
