Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest Returns to  New York-New York Saturday, April 26

Male and Female Winners Advance to Coney Island Event this Summer

WHAT:
Competitive eaters from across the region are building their appetites and training their stomachs for New York-New York Hotel & Casino’s 17th annual qualifying event for the 99th Annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y.

The first stop on this year’s national qualifying tour route is Saturday, April 26 at 3 p.m. on New York-New York’s brand new Strip-side plaza. During the main event, male and female winners will be crowned “Nevada Hot Dog Eating Champions” earning the right to represent Las Vegas in the July 4 finals. A special employee contest along with a “Heroes” competition for charity will begin at 1 p.m.

In addition to Las Vegas, regional qualifying competitions will also take place in several cities around the U.S.

The Nathan’s Famous International Hot Dog Eating Contest has occurred every July 4 in Coney Island since 1916, the year Nathan Handwerker opened the legendary restaurant.

Major League Eating, the governing body of all stomach-centric sports, sanctions the Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Circuit and ensures the contests are judged professionally and that safety standards are in place at each event.

2:30 p.m. – Heroes Contest (Military personnel and first responders)
3 p.m. – MAIN EVENT
