APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR YEAR FOUR OF ROGERS ART LOFT ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCY PROGRAM IN LAS VEGAS

Calling All Emerging Artists and Creatives – Applications Now Open

Dedicated to inclusivity, originality, and the empowerment of artists, applications for Year Four of the Rogers Art Loft (RAL) Artist-in-Residency program are now open. The premier artist-in-residency program encourages emerging artists and creatives, both national and international, to apply. Selected resident artists will have the opportunity to live and work in a first-of-its-kind creative community – The Lucy – in vibrant Downtown Las Vegas and will have access to creative workspace at the nearby Rogers Studio Gallery to present artist talks, community workshops, performances, and exhibitions.

Applications for Year Four of the Artist-in-Residency program must be submitted by the deadline on July 25, 2022. Interested applicants can submit their Las Vegas-specific project proposal, portfolio, written statements, and biographical information online by clicking here.  Notifications will be sent out in late summer 2022.

Since launching with its inaugural roster of artists in June 2019, The Rogers Art Loft at The Lucy has successfully welcomed artists – both in-person and virtually – from a variety of disciplines including paint, printmaking, sculpture, video and performance art, fiber arts, and collage, to share their creative insight and practice with the Las Vegas community.

“Most residencies are not funded nor have clear end goals for research and production,” said recent Rogers Art Loft resident artist Audrey Barcio. “Many artists would love the chance to just dedicate their time and have end goals such as an exhibition, workshop, and lecture such as Rogers Art Loft provides. I think this residency is best for the independent artist who has a goal in mind and ready to dive deep into their research. The community RAL offers is built in – in other ways that are very important to artists and I really appreciated the space to engage.”

The brainchild of local philanthropist and patron of the arts Beverly Rogers, the Rogers Art Loft is made possible by The Rogers Foundation, dedicated to transforming lives through arts and education in Southern Nevada.

“We have enjoyed working with some amazing talent over the years and have continually been uplifted by the creativity and passion they share with our community, ” said Beverly Rogers, Chairman of the Board, The Rogers Foundation. “We are excited about what’s to come as we welcome additional emerging artists and further elevate Las Vegas with the creation of art, dialogue, community engagement, and new collaborations.”

“If you are looking to develop your practice in a context that is supportive and challenging at the same time, while being completely non – judgmental, you should apply for this residency opportunity,” said previous RAL artists Passepartout Duo.

While participating in the multi-disciplinary Rogers Art Loft program, each artist will reside at the Rogers Art Loft at The Lucy complex – a creative hub and home to writers-in-residence from Black Mountain Institute, an independent bookstore: Writer’s Block, and other local Las Vegas writers, artists, and entrepreneurs.

“We consider the artist residency to be a place of research, development, and creation for artists and an offering of time, space, and support for exploration,” said Lance L. Smith, Rogers Art Loft Director. “Our mission is to support artists in all steps of their development.”

Rogers Art Loft artists live and work in Las Vegas for two to eight weeks, depending on their needs and art practice. Each artist will offer free opportunities to engage with the community including an Artist Talk, Community Workshop, and a Culmination Exhibition.

The Rogers Art Loft is in Las Vegas, Nevada. Situated in a valley, Las Vegas is surrounded by mountains on all sides and situated at the basin floor of the Mojave Desert. The residency is in downtown Las Vegas on Bonneville Avenue near the Arts District, Fremont Experience, Neon Museum, and the Smith Center for Performing Arts.
