MOST-PICKED TEAM IN CIRCA SPORTS’ PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CONTEST CIRCA SURVIVOR LOSES AGAIN

4,040 Eliminated in Week 2 After Sunday’s Carnage, 4,662 Entries Remain

“The game is over and so are a lot of Survivor pools,” was the call on CBS at the end of the game between Baltimore and Las Vegas. This certainly applied to sports betting venture Circa Sports’ professional football contest, Circa Survivor, and many football fans’ quest for the record-breaking $14,266,000 prize pool.

In Week 2, nearly half of the remaining entries in Circa Survivor lost. Baltimore was the most-picked team eliminating 26.5% of the field making this the second-straight week that the most-picked team lost. In Week 1, Cincinnati was the most-picked team in Circa Survivor resulting in 34.3% of entries being eliminated.

Baltimore was the largest favorite on the board hosting Las Vegas at home and seemed to have the game in hand with a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter. Baltimore was unable to perform on offense late in the game where Las Vegas took advantage of a pass interference call. Las Vegas then scored 13 unanswered points to win 26-23. 2,304 entries put their trust in Baltimore, eliminating 26.5% of the Circa Survivor field.

There were additional losses that sent a large portion of the field home. Detroit lost at home to Tampa, eliminating 859 entries or 9.9% of the remaining field. 259 people picked Jacksonville against Cleveland, 255 entries had Dallas against New Orleans and another 187 picked Indianapolis over Green Bay. The three combined accounted for 8.1% of the field.

When the dust settled on Sunday, 4,040 contestants, 46.4% of the remaining field, were eliminated during Week 2. There are 4,662 entries left heading into Monday night. With the prize pool of $14,226,000, the entries left standing hold an implied value of $3,060, more than tripling the $1000 entry fee each contestant paid.

There are still 785 entries depending on the outcome of Philadelphia’s game tonight. It is possible the remaining player list could end up smaller by the time Week 2 officially comes to a close.
