MIRACLE MILE SHOPS TURNS FOUNTAIN PINK FOR BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino turns its fountain pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October. All change tossed in the pink fountain benefits the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, as part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing community campaign.
All month long, the fountain will display a pink hue in between regularly scheduled water shows. Coins tossed in the popular water feature and the center’s indoor rainstorm will be donated to the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Regularly scheduled water shows take place at the top of every hour from noon to 11 p.m.
The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is dedicated to combating breast cancer at every front. Up to 75 percent of the Affiliate’s net income goes toward funding grants to local hospitals and community organizations that provide breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment programs for medically underserved women and men. The remaining net income supports the national Komen Grants Program, which funds groundbreaking breast cancer research, meritorious awards and educational and scientific programs around the world.
In addition to raising funds in the fountain, several stores inside Miracle Mile Shops will support Breast Cancer Awareness Month with their own specials and fundraisers, including:
- Brighton Collectibles
Ten dollars from the sale of every Brighton Collectibles “Power of Pink” bracelet ($50) will go towards St. Rose Dominican Hospitals’ Responsible Early Detection (R.E.D.) Rose Program in partnership with Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. Bracelets will be available while supplies last. Brighton also encourages customers to host a pink party at the store. Ten percent of each party’s purchases will benefit the customer’s breast cancer charity of choice.
· Cheeseburger Las Vegas
This October, Cheeseburger Las Vegas features a special menu featuring pink wraps and chips. One dollar from the sale of each menu item will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
· GUESS Accessories

Black Book members receive an additional five percent off on top of the 10 percent discount.
The partnership between Miracle Mile Shops and the Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is part of the center’s Caring, Giving, Changing campaign, celebrating a year of change in 2012. In addition to the monthly fountain fundraisers, the Caring, Giving, Changing campaign also raises funds for other programs and organizations through community sponsorships, additional partnerships and a number of cash and in-kind donations. In previous months Miracle Mile Shops has teamed up with Shriners Hospitals For Children (September), Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson (August), Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Las Vegas (July), Aid For AIDS of Nevada (June), Communities In Schools of Nevada (May), Autism Speaks (April), National Multiple Sclerosis Society (March), American Heart Association (February) and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (January). In 2011, Miracle Mile Shops raised a total of $100,000 for numerous local and national non-profit organizations and aims to surpass that number in 2012.
Community Investment – Your Dollars at Work
The Southern Nevada Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® – along with those who generously support the organization with their talent, time and resources – is working to better the lives of those facing breast cancer in our community. Through events like the Komen Southern Nevada Race for the Cure®, we have invested more than $6 million in local breast health and breast cancer projects in Southern Nevada over the past 17 years. Up to 75 percent of net proceeds generated by the Affiliate provide grants for innovative community programs that reduce breast cancer mortality through screening, treatment, education and safety-net services, while the remaining 25 percent supports groundbreaking breast cancer research grants.
The Southern Nevada Affiliate conducts a biannual community needs assessment that helps guide our work and establishes goals for granting priorities, education needs, public policy efforts, and strategic operations. This community profile identifies service gaps, barriers, and community needs and ensures that our local investments will be effective and impactful. This year, the Affiliate funded over $837,000 in local breast health programs for the uninsured and underserved in Las Vegas and surrounding areas, while providing $150,000 to breast cancer research.
