“MAY THE SCIENCE BE WITH YOU” BRINGS STAR WARS-THEMED STEAM FUN TO LAS VEGAS, THURSDAY, MAY 1

DRI to Host Family-Friendly Event in Partnership with Atomic Museum

Attendees Receive Free Event Admission, Complimentary Access to Atomic Museum

DRI, in partnership with the Atomic Museum, invites the Las Vegas community to an exciting, family-friendly celebration of science and pop culture at “May the Science Be with You” on Thursday, May 1 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Combining the wonder of the Star Wars universe with the power of science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), “May the Science Be with You” will feature interactive demonstrations, hands-on activities and behind-the-scenes lab tours with scientists from DRI.

Guests of all ages can enjoy themed experiences such as Padawan training and photo opportunities with Star Wars fan and charity groups, as well as explore booths from community partners and indulge in a selection of local food trucks. In addition, all attendees will receive complimentary entry to the Atomic Museum from 4 to 7 p.m. on the day of the event.

“We are excited to partner with the Atomic Museum to provide families with a complimentary fun and educational event as they engage with scientists, participate in Star Wars Padawan training, and tour DRI science labs,” said Detra Page, DRI communications manager. “This annual event is an opportunity for kids and adults to see first-hand how fascinating a career in science might be.”

“Our goal in partnering with DRI for ‘May the Science Be with You’ is to spark interest and excitement in STEAM among young people and their families,” said Matt Malinowski, director of education, Atomic Museum. “By combining education with beloved pop culture, we hope to show how science is not only essential—but also fun and inspiring.”

This complimentary event will take place on the DRI campus, located at 755 E. Flamingo Road. Advanced registration is not required; costumes are encouraged. For more information, click here.

ABOUT DRI
We are Nevada’s non-profit research institute, founded in 1959 to empower experts to focus on science that matters. We work with communities across the state –and the world– to address their most pressing scientific questions. We’re proud that our scientists continuously produce solutions that better human and environmental health.

Scientists at DRI are encouraged to follow their research interests across the traditional boundaries of scientific fields, collaborating across DRI and with scientists worldwide. All faculty support their own research through grants, bringing in nearly $5 to the Nevada economy for every $1 of state funds received. With more than 600 scientists, engineers, students, and staff across our Reno and Las Vegas campuses, we have conducted more than $52 million in sponsored research focused on improving peoples’ lives in 2024 alone.

At DRI, science isn’t merely academic – it’s the key to future-proofing our communities and building a better world.  For more information, please visit www.dri.edu.
