UNLV PLACES 81 STUDENT-ATHLETES ON MW’s SPRING ACADEMIC TEAM
Three Rebel programs reached double digits with their individual honorees
UNLV Athletics had 81 student-athletes named to the Spring 2023 Academic All-Mountain West Team, the conference announced Monday.
The Rebels have now placed at least 70 representatives on the spring list for 20 consecutive years.
Three programs reached double digits this year, with 20 honorees from women’s swimming & diving, 12 from track & field and 11 from baseball.
Additionally, softball was represented by nine student-athletes, followed by women’s tennis with seven, women’s basketball, women’s golf and men’s tennis with five apiece, men’s golf with four, and men’s basketball with three.
Overall, 1,162 student-athletes were named to the Spring 2023 Academic All-MW Team.
To be eligible for selection to the Academic All-MW Team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and competing in 50 percent of their team’s completed contests.
2022-23 ACADEMIC YEAR: The Scarlet & Gray saw 154 student-athletes earn Academic All-MW Team honors this year, including 73 honorees during the Fall 2022 semester. That list featured 33 student-athletes from football, 21 from women’s soccer, 11 from volleyball and eight from cross country. Joining their MW counterparts, UNLV men’s swimming and diving had seven student-athletes and men’s soccer had five student-athletes recognized on the Academic All-WAC Team.
