LIGHTING LAS VEGAS BLUE FOR CHILD ABUSE
PREVENTION
In a powerful show of solidarity, Olive Crest is “Lighting Las Vegas Blue” this April in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Iconic Las Vegas landmarks will glow in blue—the official color of child abuse prevention—serving as a visual reminder of the urgent need to protect children and strengthen families.
Thanks to the support of Clark County and Caesars Entertainment, several major landmarks are going blue this month. The county is illuminating the lights surrounding the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, while Caesars Entertainment is lighting up Paris Las Vegas and the High Roller Observation Wheel. Additionally, Caesars Entertainment served as the presenting sponsor at Olive Crest’s Power of One Luncheon earlier this month, which marked the official kickoff of Child Abuse Prevention Month in Southern Nevada.
Olive Crest, a trusted nonprofit organization serving Southern Nevada since 1997, is dedicated to preventing child abuse by strengthening, equipping, and restoring children and families… One Life at a Time®.
“Our mission is not just to respond to abuse, but to prevent it,” says Jimmy Monaghan, Executive Director of Olive Crest in Nevada. “By lighting up the city in blue, we’re asking our community to stand with us—to be compassionate, to be part of the solution, and to be a light.”
Olive Crest’s programs in Southern Nevada provide a wrap-around continuum of care, including strengthening families, providing safe and loving homes, and equipping teens and young adults who have aged out of the child welfare system for life. The organization serves more than 6,400 individuals annually in Nevada, focusing on low-income families at high risk for abuse and neglect.
Las Vegas residents and visitors are encouraged to wear blue throughout the month and to learn more about how they can help at www.olivecrest.org/nv.
Together, let’s shine a light on child abuse prevention—and build A Strong Family for Every Child.
