LAS VEGAS MONORAIL TO STAY OPEN 43 HOURS STRAIGHT FOR NEW YEAR’S REVELERS, OFFERS LYFT CREDIT FOR VISITORS, $1 FARES FOR LOCALS
Each year, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Las Vegas Strip for the New Year’s Eve holiday.
The Las Vegas Monorail will remain open and running around the clock from 7 a.m. New Year’s Eve, continuously through New Year’s Day and until 2 a.m. on January 2, 2018, for a total of 43 straight hours. Last year, more than 300,000 people gathered along the Las Vegas Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic from approximately 5:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve night until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. With streets closed off, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Strip on New Year’s Eve.
The Monorail offers several incentives this New Year’s Eve for revelers seeking to use the system to traverse the Strip:
- Anyone who purchases an unlimited-ride pass on the Monorail can receive $5 in Lyft credit, enabling them to extend their journey beyond the 3.9-mile route. This offer is perfect for visitors who want to enjoy the Strip on New Year’s Eve, but are staying in Downtown Las Vegas of anywhere else off-Strip. Unlimited-ride passes may be purchased here.
- Monorail riders who do not plan to use Lyft and who wish to purchase any unlimited-ride pass can use this link to receive 10 percent off.
- In conjunction with the newly launched Anti-DUI Coalition, new and existing Lyft users can also use this link to receive $5 off two Lyft rides on New Year’s Eve between Dec 31, 2017 7 a.m. and Jan 1, 2018 12:01 p.m. while supplies last.
- Finally, locals can purchase $1 one-way local tickets on New Year’s Eve from any Monorail ticket office, which will stay open until 11 p.m. that night. Locals must present a Nevada ID to receive the discount.
“We’re happy to extend our hours so New Year’s revelers can celebrate worry-free throughout the night on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president and chief marketing officer, Las Vegas Monorail. “Together with Lyft and the other Anti-DUI Coalition partners, our goal is to make it easy, convenient and safe for those who want be out and about that night without having to worry about drinking and driving.”
The Monorail has five stations along the Las Vegas Strip: MGM Grand; Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/The LINQ and SLS Las Vegas. Two more stations are located at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Westgate Resort & Casino.
