Last year, more than 300,000 people gathered along the Las Vegas Strip, which shuts down to automobile traffic from approximately 5:45 p.m. New Year’s Eve night until 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day. With streets closed off, the Monorail is the only motorized form of transportation available along the Strip on New Year’s Eve.
In addition, locals can purchase $1 one-way local tickets on New Year’s Eve from any Monorail ticket office, which will stay open until 11 p.m. that night. Locals must present a Nevada ID to receive the discount.
“We’re happy to extend our hours so New Year’s revelers can move around well into the wee hours of New Year’s Day and beyond,” explains Ingrid Reisman, vice president and chief marketing officer, Las Vegas Monorail. “Our goal is to make it easy, convenient and safe for those who want be out and about that night without having to worry about drinking and driving.”
The Monorail has five stations along the Las Vegas Strip: MGM Grand; Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas; Flamingo/Caesars Palace; Harrah’s/The LINQ and SLS Las Vegas. Two more stations are located at the Las Vegas Convention Center and Westgate Resort & Casino.
In addition, the Monorail is hosting a New Year’s Eve party at the Las Vegas Convention Center Station, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Guests will marvel at the front-and-center, panoramic view of the Strip fireworks from the elevated Third Rail Lounge, featuring a chic atmosphere and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Las Vegas skyline. This year’s fireworks will be launched directly in front of Monorail partygoers—from the rooftops of The Venetian, Treasure Island, Stratosphere, Caesars Palace, Aria, MGM Grand and Planet Hollywood. Guests will imbibe unlimited beer and wine, as well as enjoy hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment by Taj and DJ Livinh, who will lead an energetic Rock in the New Year countdown. The party includes a Champagne toast at midnight, party favors and access to a themed party photo booth complete with a souvenir print to take home. A cash bar will also be available for cocktails throughout the evening.
Best of all, the Third Rail Lounge New Year’s Eve Party includes unlimited Monorail rides for 24 hours, allowing all guests hassle-free access to and from the Strip throughout the night. Finally, every guest will receive a reusable travel cup and enjoy a specialty cocktail at each of the Monorail’s “refill stations” located at select stops along its four-mile route. Tickets for the Monorail’s New Year’s Eve Party are just $175 per person or $300 per couple and may be purchased here: lvmonorail.com/nye2017.
