The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, and the 2013 & 2014 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open an eight-game homestand on Saturday, April 25 against the Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m.  The four-game series against the Isotopes will conclude with a matinee contest on Tuesday, April 28 at 12:05 p.m.  The 51s will then host intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a four-game series from Thursday-Sunday, April 30 – May 3.

 

Las Vegas, under third-year manager Wally Backman and the 2014 PCL Manager of the Year, are currently on a four-game road trip in Northern Nevada against the Aces (6-8 overall, 0-2 on the trip).  The series will conclude on Friday evening and will also end a stretch of playing 12 of the first 16 games of the 2015 season on the road.

 

The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

 

2015 ATTENDANCE: In 4 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 29,972 for an average of 7,493.  The 51s began the 2015 “home” season with back-to-back sellouts on April 17 (11,007) and April 18 (9,928).  The “home opener” crowd on April 17 of 11,007 was the largest in the 33-year franchise history (10,622 – inaugural home opener on April 10, 1983 vs. Salt Lake City).  The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 32 seasons (1983-2014) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,674,181.

 

The opener of the eight-game homestand on Saturday will feature Jacob deGrom 51s Jersey Night, presented by Findlay Toyota on Opportunity Village Night.  The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive a jersey of the 2014 National League Rookie of the Year. DeGrom played in parts of two seasons with the 51s (20013-14).

 

DeGrom began the 2014 season with Triple-A Las Vegas (7 games, 4-0, 2.58 ERA). He was then promoted to the Mets on May 13. He made 22 starts and won the National League Rookie Triple Crown, leading in strikeouts (144), ERA (2.69) and tied for the league lead with nine wins. He was named N.L. Rookie of the Year by Baseball Writer’s Association of America; Sporting News N.L. Rookie of the Year and the Player’s Choice N.L. Outstanding Rookie.

 

Following a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, the 51s will present Smith’s Value Menu Monday on April 27.  Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the seventh straight season!  The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

 

Albuquerque’s roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Rockies organization, according to Baseball America: Right-handed pitcher Jon Gray (No. 2).

 

The PCL will have a scheduled off day on Wednesday, April 29.

 

The 51s will then open a four-game series against the Reno Aces on Thursday, April 30 at 7:05 p.m.

 

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented at every Thursday home game during the 2015 season.  Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

 

In 2009, Las Vegas and Reno developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and the “Silver Plate Trophy” to add to the excitement to the rivalry for the two PCL teams that represent the state of Nevada.

2013: Las Vegas 51s (Las Vegas won series 13-games-to-3)

HOMETOWN HEROES NIGHT – FRIDAY, MAY 1

 

51s Hometown Heroes Night will feature Noah Syndergaard Policeman & Fireman Bobbleheads, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates (1,250 Policeman & 1,250 Fireman bobbleheads).  UNLV & UNR Alumni Night will also be presented on Friday, May 1 at 7:05 p.m.

 

The GUNS AND HOSES will play a preliminary game at 5 p.m., pitting local police agencies, against local firefighters. All ticket holders will be able to come inside and watch the first responder showdown, and then stay for the rest of the festivities.  At 6 p.m., there will be a static display of emergency service and patrol vehicles parked in front of Cashman Field for attendees to tour and learn about the types of vehicles and technology used to keep our community safe.  A K-9 unit will also be on hand for a brief demonstration.

 

The 51s organization will conduct a special pre-game ceremony dedicated to recognize, support and to thank our emergency service providers including the police, fire and emergency medical providers of Southern Nevada. The “Color Guard Ceremony” will feature members of the Police and Fire Departments and including ceremonial first pitches for individuals who will be honored for their acts of heroism.

 

Individual police officers, firefighters and emergency personnel who have dedicated their lives to helping others will be acknowledged during the pre-game ceremony.

 

The 51s will have a special “thank you” announcement for the families of our local Hometown Heroes.

Game three of the series on Saturday, May 2 at 7:05 p.m. will feature 51s Team Poster Night, presented by Zero Fatalities, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates on Boy Scouts Night.

 

The finale of the four-game series and the homestand against the Aces on Sunday, May 3 will feature “Little League Day” at 12:05 p.m.  Selected 51s players will be available to sign pre-game autographs for the Little League teams in attendance. In addition, all children will have the opportunity to “Run the Bases” at the conclusion of the contest (with proper shoe attire).

 

Reno’s roster features one of the top 10 prospects in the Diamondbacks organization, according to Baseball America: Outfielder Peter O’Brien (No. 8).

 

The 51s, in conjunction with radio partner Lotus Broadcasting, are proud to announce that KOMP 92.3 FM will sponsor all Budweiser Dollar Beer Nights and KXPT 97.1 FM will sponsor selected firework shows as well as various promotion nights during the 2015 campaign.

 

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.comRuss Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 16th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

 

All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

 

Following the homestand, Las Vegas will embark on an eight-game road at Albuquerque, N.M., beginning on Monday, May 4. The 51s will face the Isotopes in a four-game series from Monday-Thursday, May 4-7.  Las Vegas will then travel to El Paso, Texas, to face the Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, in a four-game series, from Friday-Monday, May 8-11.

 

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

 

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $11.00 (reserved, $12.00-Day of Game); $14.00 (plaza, $15.00-Day of Game) and $15.00 (field, $16.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00.  The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Saturday, July 4 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
