The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, will open the final homestand of the 2013 regular season against the Tucson Padres, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, on Friday, August 30 at 7:05 p.m. at Cashman Field. The four-game series will feature three night games at 7:05 p.m. (August 30 – Sunday, Sept. 1) and the final game of the regular season will feature a Labor Day (September 2) start of 12:05 p.m. The PCL Playoffs (Best-of-5 Series) will begin on Wednesday, September 4 in the Pacific Northern Division ballpark. The 51s, under manager Wally Backman, are concluding a six-game, four-day road trip in Colorado Springs, Colo., against the Sky Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, on Thursday evening. Las Vegas, 79-60 and tied for the best record in the 16-team PCL with Oklahoma City (79-60), is in first place in the Pacific Southern Division, 2 games ahead of the second-place Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s. Las Vegas’ magic number to clinch a spot in the PCL Playoffs is 3 (clinch a tie). The 51s hold the tie breaker (in the event of a tie for first place) over Sacramento (51s won the season-series over the River Cats, 11-games-to-5).

Las Vegas will finish the 2013 campaign over the .500 mark for the second consecutive year (2012: 79-64).

The last time the 51s recorded back-to-back over .500 seasons was 2002-03 (2002: 85-59; 2003: 76-66).

51s Playoff Tickets for the PCL First Round (Friday-Sunday, Sept. 6-8) will go on sale on Friday, August 30 at the Cashman Field Box Office at Noon and tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

2013 ATTENDANCE: In 66 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 304,320 for an average of 4,611. Las Vegas’ season-high crowds, which include four sellouts, are 11,776 against Round Rock on May 10 and 11,522 for the 10th Annual School Day Game against Albuquerque on May 14 at Cashman Field. The Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 31 seasons (1983-2013) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,290,834. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

A spectacular postgame “Fireworks Show” will be featured in the series opener on Friday on Helping Hands of Vegas Valley Night.

The 51s will then feature Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, August 31 and the first 2,500 fans through the gates, which open at 6 p.m., will receive a 51s Blue Jersey. Fans will also have an opportunity to win prices as the 51s organization thanks the fans for all of their support during the 2013 campaign.

Value Menu Monday will be presented in the season finale on Labor Day (September 2) as the 51s organization concludes its 31st PCL season in the Silver State. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com . Russ Langer, the eight-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 14th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” that was held on Wednesday, July 3.
