The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets & 2013 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open a brief four-game homestand on Monday, June 30 against the Salt Lake Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. All four-games of the series (Monday-Thursday, June 30 – July 3) will begin at 7:05 p.m.
The 51s, under second-year manager Wally Backman, are concluding a four-game road trip in Northern California on Sunday evening against the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s. The “first place” 51s have the best record in the 16-team PCL with a 48-34 mark (.585) and lead second-place El Paso (39-44) by 9.5 games in the Pacific Southern Division. The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, of the International League, have the best record in Triple-A baseball (30 teams) with a 49-33 (.598) mark.
2014 ATTENDANCE: In 44 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 209,483 for an average of 4,761. Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 31 seasons (1983-2013) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,524,263. Las Vegas’ season-high crowd, which includes three sellouts, was 10,163 vs. Sacramento on Fireworks/Military Appreciation Night on May 23 at Cashman Field. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.
The homestand finale on Thursday, July 3 will feature the annual “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Adoption Awareness Foundation Night. The spectacular post-game fireworks show will help celebrate “Independence Day” and all seats for this special event are priced at $15.00.
Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will also be presented on July 3 against Salt Lake. Every Thursday home game throughout the 2014 campaign will feature “Dollar Beers.” Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.
“Smith’s Value Menu Monday” will be presented in the opener of the homestand on June 30. Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the sixth straight season. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.
Salt Lake’s roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Angels organization, according to Baseball America: Top prospect, second baseman Taylor Lindsey and outfielder Zach Borenstein (No. 9).
Kyler Newby, a Las Vegas product, is also a member of the Salt Lake Bees. The right-handed pitcher is a 2003 graduate of Bonanza High School and attended Mesa Community College in Ariz. He was selected by Arizona in the 50th round of the June 2004 First-Year Player Draft. He has appeared in 12 games for Salt Lake and has compiled an ERA of 1.62 in 16.2 innings pitched (0-0/16 SO).
The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 15th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

Following the homestand, the 51s will embark on an eight-game, seven-day road trip beginning in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday, July 4. Las Vegas will face the Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, in a four-game series from Friday-Sunday, July 4-6. A day/night double-header is scheduled for Saturday, July 5. Las Vegas will then travel to Northern Nevada to face intrastate rival, the Reno Aces, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a four-game series at Aces Ballpark from Monday-Thursday, July 7-10.
In 2009, Las Vegas and Reno developed the Silver State Diamond Challenge and the “Silver Plate Trophy” to add to the excitement to the rivalry for the two PCL teams that represent the state of Nevada.

The 27th annual Cree Triple-A All-Star Game, presented by Gildan, will be played on Wednesday, July 16 at 4 p.m. (PDT) at Durham Bulls Athletic Ballpark in Durham, North Carolina (10,000), home of the International League’s Bulls, Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
The game featuring the PCL vs. IL will be televised live on the MLB Network (Cox Cable HD 1314) and on-line to MiLB.TV subscribers live on MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League Baseball. The American Forces Network will also showcase the event, bringing MLB Network’s telecast of the Triple-A All-Star Game to the U.S. Armed Forces stationed outside the contiguous United States on U.S. military installations and aboard U.S. Navy ships at sea.
In addition, Sports 920 (AM) The Game will broadcast the all-star game live.
The Triple-A All-Star break will be from Sunday-Wednesday, July 13-16.

The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00. The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Thursday, July 3 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
