The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets & 2013 Pacific Southern Division Champions, will open an eight-game homestand against the American Conference on Tuesday, June 17 against the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, at Cashman Field at 7:05 p.m. The four-game series against the Sounds (all games at 7:05 p.m.) will conclude on Friday, June 20. The 51s will then host the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, in a four-game series from Saturday-Tuesday, June 21-24.

The 51s, under second-year manager Wally Backman, are concluding an eight-game road trip in Oklahoma City, Okla., against the RedHawks, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, on Monday evening. Las Vegas is 4-2 on the road trip (3-1 vs. Colorado Springs; 1-1 vs. OKC). The “first place” 51s are tied for the best record with Sacramento in the 16-team PCL with a 40-29 mark (.580) and lead second-place El Paso (32-38) by 8.5 games in the Pacific Southern Division.

2014 ATTENDANCE: In 36 dates, Las Vegas’ total is 174,344 for an average of 4,843. Las Vegas franchise has reached the 300,000 plateau in “home” attendance in all 31 seasons (1983-2013) and the all-time attendance total now stands at 10,489,124. Las Vegas’ season-high crowd, which includes three sellouts, was 10,163 vs. Sacramento on Fireworks/Military Appreciation Night on May 23 at Cashman Field. The 51s organization have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada.

Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented in game three of the series against the Sounds on Thursday, June 19 on Three Square Night. Every Thursday home game throughout the 2014 campaign will feature “Dollar Beers.” Proper identification and wristbands are required for dollar beer night.

The finale of the four-game series on Friday, June 20 at 7:05 p.m. will feature a spectacular post-game Fireworks Show, sponsored by Discount Tire, on Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Night.

Nashville’s roster features four of the top 10 prospects in the Brewers organization, according to Baseball America: Top prospect, right-handed pitcher Jimmy Nelson (7-1, 1.51, leads PCL in ERA), right-handed pitcher Johnny Hellweg (No. 4), right-handed pitcher Taylor Jungmann (No. 6) and first-baseman Hunter Morris (No. 10).

Left-hander pitcher Brad Mills, who played three seasons with the 51s (2009-11), has appeared in 13 games for Nashville and has posted a 4-2 record with a 1.56 ERA, ranks 2nd/PCL (69 IP/45 H/70 SO). He is scheduled to start against Las Vegas in game three of the series on Thursday.

The 51s popular “Jersey Promotion Giveaway Series” continues with LV 51s Pink Pinstripe Jersey Night, to the first 2,500 fans through the gates, on Saturday, June 21 at 7:05 p.m. against the Redbirds on Komen Night.

The remaining “2014 Jersey Promotion Series” include: LV 51s Wally Backman Replica Jersey (Saturday, July 12 vs. Albuquerque); Throwback Stars Jersey (Friday, August 1 vs. El Paso); LV 51s Pinstripe Jersey Mets Style (Saturday, August 23 vs. New Orleans on Fan Appreciation Night).

Game two of the four-game series on Sunday, June 22 will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m.

“Smith’s Value Menu Monday” will then be presented in game three of the series on June 23 at 7:05 p.m. Monday “home” games will feature a “Value Menu” for the sixth straight season. The 51s and Aramark have teamed together for discounted food items on Hot Dogs, Popcorn, Peanuts, Cracker Jacks and Pretzels for just $1.00 per item.

Memphis’ roster features two of the top 10 prospects in the Cardinals organization, according to Baseball America: Outfielder Stephen Piscotty (No. 4) and left-handed pitcher Tim Cooney (No. 6).

Las Vegas product, outfielder Tommy Pham, is also a member of the Redbirds. The 2006 Second Team High School All-American from Durango High School (2006 graduate), has appeared in 41 games for Memphis and is batting .303 (37-for-122) with 5 HR, 16 RBI. He originally committed to attend Cal State Fullerton before signing with St. Louis in the 16th round of June 2006 First-Year Player Draft.

The 51s will broadcast all games on Lotus Broadcasting on Sports 920 (AM) The Game, which will carry live all 144 regular season games. Also, all games will be available on the 51s website (Major League Baseball Advanced Media, MLBAM) at www.LV51.com. Russ Langer, the nine-time Nevada Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA), is in his 15th season behind the microphone calling 51s baseball.

All 51s games (home & away) will also be broadcast on MiLB.TV via LV51.com.

Following the homestand, the PCL has a scheduled off day on Wednesday, June 25. The 51s will then embark on a brief four-game road trip to Northern California. Las Vegas will face the Sacramento River Cats, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland A’s, in a series from Thursday-Sunday, June 26-29. The CBS Sports Network “Minor League Baseball Game of the Week” will feature the Las Vegas/Sacramento contest on Thursday, June 26 from Railey Field at 7:05 p.m.

CBS Sports Network (Cox Cable HD 1333) national televised broadcast is available across the country to more than 99 million households through local cable, video and telco providers.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the America First Credit Union Box Office at Cashman Field. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non-game days) from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com). Ticketmaster outlets are located at selected Smith’s Food & Drug.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $10.00 (reserved, $11.00-Day of Game); $13.00 (plaza, $14.00-Day of Game) and $14.00 (field, $15.00-Day of Game) & the blue dugout seats at $25.00. The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza and reserved seats throughout the season except for the “Fireworks Extravaganza” on Thursday, July 3 (all seats are priced at $15.00 for this special event).
