Lao Sze Chuan Turns Up The Heat at Palms Casino Resort Sept. 12
Chef Tony Hu brings famed Chinese restaurant with revamped menu to a stunning new setting in Las Vegas
On Sept. 12, Palms Casino Resort gets spicy as Chef Tony Hu brings his acclaimed Lao Sze Chuan to Las Vegas for the first time. A reinvention of Hu’s popular Chicago-based restaurant, Lao Sze Chuan introduces an expansive menu of Sze Chuan cuisine as well as a selection of popular Mandarin, Cantonese, Hunan and Shanghai dishes made especially for the Palms location. A flavorful addition to the impressive culinary offerings on the property, Lao Sze Chuan at Palms opens with a range of inventive menu options in a completely redesigned space sure to tempt the taste buds and the imagination.
“Chef Tony Hu’s approach to traditional Chinese cuisine is unlike any other in Las Vegas, so we’re very excited to introduce his newest restaurant here at Palms Casino Resort,” said Alexander Schnoeller, Vice President of Food and Beverage at Palms Casino Resort. “With such a wide variety of options and an incredible atmosphere, we’re confident that Lao Sze Chuan is an experience that all of our guests will enjoy.”
Known as Chicago’s “Mayor of Chinatown,” Hu built Lao Sze Chuan into one of the nation’s most beloved Chinese restaurants, honored with the MICHELIN Guide “Bib Gourmand” distinction for two consecutive years. At the new Palms location, Hu introduces the exceptional quality and remarkable flavors guests have come to expect from Lao Sze Chuan with a special “Customers’ Favorite Selection” menu featuring a collection of popular items from his other restaurants. Signature dishes include the famously spicy Tony’s Chicken with Three Chili, the savory Sze Chuan Smoked Tea Duck. The restaurant will also feature delicious vegetarian options like Mapo Tofu.
Taking frequent visits to China to research culinary trends, Hu continuously modifies his menus to reflect the latest in Chinese cuisine. Lao Sze Chuan features a range of new dishes developed specifically for the Palms location. Hu’s latest creations include the Sze Chuan Peppercorn Fish, the Famous Empress Lobster topped with dry chili, ginger and scallions, and the Twice Cooked Pork Szechuan Style. The menu is packed with more than 200 beef, chicken, pork and seafood options including a variety of soups, dim sum and an emphasis on hot pots, like the House Special Chicken in Hot Mini Wok, simmered bone-in for delectable flavor and served to the table in a large pot.
To complement the entrees, Lao Sze Chuan also offers an assortment of authentic Chinese beers and specialty cocktails. Expertly selected to enhance the flavor of each dish, the imported Chinese beer selections include TsingTao, Tiger and Lucky Buddha. Specialty cocktails include items such as Dragon’s Eye, a delicious blend of Skyy Infusions Dragon Fruit vodka and Calamansi Juice served with dehydrated dragon fruit, as well as the exotic International Waltz, a combination of Bombay Sapphire East, Nagomi Lychee Syrup, Funkin Brazilian and Fever Tree Elderflower Tonic.
“When creating Lao Sze Chuan at Palms, I challenged myself to experiment with new flavors, ingredients, and even a new design that all came together for a restaurant that I’m very proud of,” said Tony Hu, Founder and Executive Chef of Lao Sze Chuan. “I’m thrilled to welcome guests to my newest restaurant at Palms where they can enjoy both my newest culinary creations and the Lao Sze Chuan classics.”
Blending traditional Chinese stylings with modern flair, Lao Sze Chuan’s stunning design creates an atmosphere that is both elegant and contemporary. The 150-seat restaurant is draped with various textiles, vibrant décor, and traditional Chinese elements. Metallic gold, bold red accents and regal hues of purple highlight the contemporary venue, with eye-catching ceramic sculptures and modern, culturally inspired artwork adorning the space. A centrally located imperial chandelier serves as the focal point of the restaurant, surrounded by high ceilings and open windows that showcase the action on the casino floor. Soon after opening, guests will also be able to enjoy their meal in a lively outdoor environment on the spacious patio overlooking Palms Pool.
Lao Sze Chuan, located on the east end of the casino, opens daily, Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight and Friday through Saturday from 11 to 2 a.m. The restaurant serves dim sum from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
