UNLV TO HOST NATIONAL GIRLS AND WOMEN IN SPORTS DAY SATURDAY

The Rebel athletic department will host a free sports clinic prior to the Lady Rebel home game versus Boise State

The UNLV Lady Rebels and the UNLV Athletic Department will be honoring the 32nd annual celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Saturday, February 3, by hosting a free sports clinic prior to the Lady Rebel home game later that afternoon against Boise State in the Thomas & Mack Center.

The day will start with the free sports clinic, as players and staff from several athletic teams at UNLV, including the women’s soccer, volleyball, and pom teams will be helping to run the event for kids (girls and boys) between 2nd and 8th grades at the Mendenhall Center. Doors open at 11:45 for registration while the clinic starts at 12:30 pm with different stations spread out over the Mendenhall Center and the practice courts at the Cox Pavilion. Following the clinic, all participants are invited to attend the UNLV Lady Rebels contest against Boise State for free, with the game starting at 3 pm in the Thomas & Mack Center. All participants will receive a free t-shirt and pizza after the completion of the clinic.
During the Lady Rebel game, several former UNLV female athletes will be in attendance and will be honored on the court at halftime as well, while Mariah Jefferson, of the newest Las Vegas professional team, WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, will be signing autographs pregame. The first 100 fans to the Boise State game will receive a free Like a Lady Rebel T-shirt.
Advance tickets bought online for the game at UNLVTickets.com are just $5, while kids 12 and under are always free at UNLV Lady Rebel contests. There is also a special $2 ticket price for all CCSD parents, with the code available from your local school.
NGWSD is celebrated in all 50 states with community-based events, award ceremonies, and activities honoring the achievements and encouraging participation of girls and women in sports, starting back in 1987. The national-wide celebration is jointly organized by the National Girls and Women in Sport Coalition, and the theme for 2018 is “Play Fair, Play IX.”.
For more information about the event you can contact Rachel Dunn, Lady Rebel Director of Operations, at 702-895-3041 or by email ([email protected]). Space is limited in the pre-game clinic, so fans should sign up soon at UNLVwomensbasketballcamps.com.
