Lady Rebels Host Rams Wednesday

LADY REBELS HOST RAMS WEDNESDAY

 

UNLV and Colorado State will tip off on Wednesday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. PT at Cox Pavilion

The UNLV women’s basketball team is back in Las Vegas for the next two games beginning with hosting Colorado State on Wednesday, February 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cox Pavilion. The Lady Rebels are looking for their sixth straight win.

 

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: UNLV is 25-32 all-time versus Colorado State, although the Lady Rebels have won the last five meetings including the first meeting this season in Fort Collins back in January. The Rams head into Wednesday’s game with a 15-8 overall record and a 6-6 record in Mountain West play. Colorado State is coming off a 46-62 loss to New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Rams are led by the conference’s leading scorer McKenna Hofschild who is averaging 24.1 points per game.  Hannah Ronsiek is Colorado State’s leading rebounder, bringing down 5.7 rebounds per game.

WEDNESDAY’S PROMOTIONS: Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the Cox Pavilion for a t-shirt giveaway, with a limited number of shirts available. Additionally, fans will receive Lady Rebels’ jersey stickers. The concession stand in the Cox Pavilion will be offering $3 hot dogs, $2 beer and $1 popcorn.

 

TICKETS: Tickets are $6 when purchased in advance online at UNLVTickets.com. General admission tickets at the door are $10 ($8 for seniors, UNLV faculty/staff and alumni). UNLV students and Nevada high school students (presenting student ID) as well as all children 12 and under enter free.

 

BROADCAST INFO: The game will air live locally on the Silver State Sports and Entertainment Network (KVVU 5.2, Cox 125) and stream online on the Mountain West Network (theMW.com/watch). Play-by-play announcer Wyatt Tomchek and color analyst Kevaney Martin have the call.

 

SQUAD LEADERS: Desi-Rae Young leads the Lady Rebels in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game and is the leading rebounder (9.4 rebounds per game). Kiara Jackson leads UNLV in assists per game (4.9) and is the second-leading scorer averaging 11.4 points per game. Alyssa Durazo-Frescas is the third leading scorer on the squad, averaging 8.6 points and Alyssa Brown is the second leading rebounder, bringing down 8.1 boards per game, respectively.

 

LAST TIME ON THE COURT: Three different Lady Rebels were in double-figures including Kiara Jackson with her first career double-double as the No. 25 UNLV women’s basketball team downed Fresno State 63-49 on Saturday afternoon at Save Mart Center. Jackson led UNLV with 15 points by shooting 6-for-13 from the field and brought down a career-high 10 rebounds (six offensive, four defensive). Desi-Rae Young collected her 45th career double-double of 10 points and a team-high 14 rebounds (two offensive, 12 defensive). Amarachi Kimpson was also in double-figures with 10 points and had two steals.

 

SQUAD UP: The Lady Rebels return nine of the 12 players from its 2023 championship squad, including three starters and Mountain West Sixth Player of the Year Kiara Jackson. UNLV added four freshmen, forward McKinna Brackens, point guard Amarachi Kimpson, guard Macy Spencer and forward Meadow Roland, and junior transfer Macie James, a forward from Oklahoma State.
