 The UNLV women’s basketball team will close out the regular season with a nationally televised contest on the road at Wyoming on Wednesday, March 5. The Lady Rebels and Cowgirls will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. MT on FS1.

 

ABOUT WYOMING: UNLV is 32-28 all-time against Wyoming and have won the last six straight meetings which includes the first meeting between the two programs this season. Under head coach Lindy La Rocque, the Lady Rebels are 8-3 against the Cowgirls. The last two meetings between the squads went into overtime including the matchup on Jan. 19 this season in an undefeated matchup. Wyoming heads into Wednesday’s contest with a 19-10 overall record and a 13-4 MW record which is good for the #2 seed for the MW Basketball Tournament. The Cowgirls currently have three players scoring in double-digits and are led by Allyson Fertig’s double-double of 19.0 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. Wyoming has won three straight games including on March 1 beating Colorado State 68-55 for the #2 seed in the conference tournament.

SQUAD LEADERS: UNLV currently has four players scoring in double-figures and are led by Amarachi Kimpson with 13.5 points per game. Kiara Jackson is the second leading scorer who is averaging 12.8 points per game and leads the Lady Rebels in assists with 5.2 per game and field goals made with 5.1 per game. Alyssa Brown leads the squad in rebounds, bringing down 7.7 per game. Meadow Roland is second for the Lady Rebels in rebounds with 6.2 per game.

 

FOUR-PEAT MW REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS: The Lady Rebels secured the No. 1 seed for the Mountain West Basketball Championships and the regular season title for the fourth straight year. UNLV defeated Boise State 83-53 to clinch and move to 15-1 overall in the MW standings. This marks the first time in program history the Scarlet & Gray claimed the MW regular season title and the second time in MW history and first time since Colorado State’s four-peat in 2014-17.

 

LAST TIME ON THE COURT: The UNLV women’s basketball team earned its eighth straight win after collecting an 89-5 victory over San Jose State on Saturday afternoon in a packed Cox Pavilion. Following the game, the Lady Rebels honored senior Alyssa Brown, Kiara Jackson, Macie James and Kenadee Winfrey. The Scarlet & Gray had four players in double-figures and were led by Meadow Roland’s career-high 24 points. Roland shot 8-for-11 from the field and was a perfect 8-for-8 at the free throw line. McKinna Brackens and Kiara Jackson each had 15 points on the day. Jackson led the squad in assists with six, while Alyssa Brown led the squad in rebounds with 13, respectively. Amarachi Kimpson had 10 points against the Spartans and two steals.
