La Mona Rosa, Fremont East’s Mexico City-inspired hideaway located at 100 S. Sixth St., will invite guests to party like a guac star with featured taco and margarita offerings available all day on Wednesday, Oct. 4 for National Taco Day.

For the holiday, La Mona Rosa, Spanish for “The Pink Monkey,” will offer 10 tacos for $39, as well as build-your-own bottomless margaritas for $40. Crafted by Executive Chef Isidro Marquez-Castillo as a celebration of Mexico’s diverse regions, robust flavors and culinary techniques, the menu features fourteen taco selections. Protein options include Carnitas, citrus braised pork shoulder topped with chicharron, salsa verde cruda and pico de gallo; Governador, made with sautéed shrimp, bell peppers, onion, queso Oaxaca, salsa negra and salsa borracha; Cochinita Pibil, pork shoulder with achiote citrus marinade steamed in banana leaf, pickled onion and salsa habanero; Tinga, chicken stewed in a chipotle tomato sauce topped with jocoque, pico de gallo, roasted green habanero salsa and pickled onions; Pollo Asado, grilled chicken thigh made with avocado, green onion and salsa verde tomatillo; Baja, Baja-style beer battered shrimp with pico de gallo, roasted green habanero salsa and pickled onions; Placero, made with pork belly house-made chicharron, guacamole, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and tomatillo green sauce; Pancita, made with pork belly in ancho and guajillo adobo with charred pineapple, cilantro and morita sauce; Asado, grilled arrachera steak topped with avocado and salsa verde; and Poblano, grilled skirt steak with Mexican mashed potatoes, sautéed nopales, green onion and salsa verde cruda.

The menu also features numerous vegetarian tacos including Nopal, grilled cactus with charred Mexican onions, tomato and queso cotija; Hongo & Epazote, sautéed mushrooms with poblano peppers, mole, amarillo and epazote; Guacamole and Chapulines, smashed avocado and jalapeño with cilantro, onion, lime, pico de gallo, queso fresco, chapulines and oaxaquenos; and Zanahoria and Adobo, made with sauteed heirloom carrots in adobo guajillo, avocado, quesillo and salsa mancha.

La Mona Rosa will top off the National Taco Day festivities with build-your-own bottomless margarita boards with customizable spirit, garnish, syrup and salted rim options, available for $40 per person. Guests can choose between a tequila or mezcal base, which will be served with lime, agave and orange liqueur, and build their own garnish board with fruits, such as strawberry, peach and orange; herbs such as mint, epazote and rosemary; syrups including blue raspberry, ginger, prickly pear and vanilla; rims, such as chipotle salt, pasilla salt and jalapeno sugar; and, for an additional $3, guests even add glitter to make the margaritas sparkle.
