L.A. Comedy Club at The STRAT Brings a Packed Comedy Lineup This August to Fill the Month With Big Laughs
Touring comics Jimmy Shubert, Rocky Dale Davis, Kevin Shea,
Carlos Rodriguez and Willie Fratto Farrell will take the
Dragon Room stage in August, joining the award-winning club’s regular lineup
L.A. Comedy Club has announced a hilarious August lineup for the club’s custom new Dragon Room showroom at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower. Jimmy Shubert, Rocky Dale Davis, Kevin Shea, Carlos Rodriguez and Willie Fratto Farrell, whose combined credits span ABC, NBC, HBO, MTV, Comedy Central, Showtime and more, will headline the club’s 8 p.m. shows. The club’s lineup of popular resident comics also includes the nightly Happy Hour Variety Show starring Julio Gonzalez at 6 p.m.; comedian Butch Bradley at 10 p.m. Thursday through Monday; and comedian Bret Ernst at 10 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The L.A. Comedy Club, dubbed “The younger rebel brother of Improv” by Casino Player Magazine, has been entertaining Las Vegas locals and visitors since 2007. Known as the spot “where comedy comes to party,” the repeat “Best of Las Vegas” gold award winner has recently relocated its famed Dragon Room to a custom-built 270-seat showroom on the main casino floor at The STRAT Hotel, Casino & Tower.

Julio Gonzalez, a relative newcomer to the Vegas comedy scene, is known nationwide for his storytelling comedic style using experiences from his life such as weight loss, relationships, society, women and living life to the fullest. Along with his standup career, Gonzalez is known for helping others through his various charity shows and is committed to being the change he wants to see in the world.

Comedic veteran, Butch Bradley, grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey and started his comedy career by becoming a founding member of the Boston Improv Troupe. Bradley has been the opening act for comedic legends like Ray Romano, Lewis Black and Cathy Ladman and has appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, has been a regular on “The Late Late Show” and toured festivals such as the “Aspen Rooftop Comedy Festival,” the “Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival” and made an appearance as a USO Entertainer. Bradley has received the gold award for “Best Comedian” for three consecutive years by the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards. Bradley’s comedy special, “Butch Bradley: From Las Vegas” is currently available on Amazon Prime. He can also be seen on the big screen in the upcoming film “Reagan” starring Dennis Quaid.
- 10 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday: Bret Ernst
Bret Ernst, born and raised in New Jersey, was one of four comedians featured in “Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days and 30 Nights—Hollywood to the Heartland,” has appeared on television shows like “Comedy Central Presents,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” “Weeds” and has a recurring role on Netflix’s hit series, “Cobra Kai.” Ernst’s jokes are rooted in storytelling, giving the audience an inside look at the life of a typical North Jersey Italian kid in the 1980s.

Jimmy Shubert, a Philadelphia native, started performing stand-up right out of high school at local comedy clubs before moving to Los Angeles where he began working at The Comedy Store. Shubert was included as one of the original “Outlaws of Comedy” that toured for five years, playing major casinos in Las Vegas and other cities, often to more than 6,000 people per show. Since his performance in the Montreal “Just for Laughs Comedy Festival” in 1997, Shubert’s television appearances range from IFC, ABC, NBC, CBS and Disney Channel. His first half-hour special for “Comedy Central Presents” was recorded at the Hudson Theater in New York City. Additionally, he has recorded three comedy albums with his most recent, “Zero Tolerance,” reaching the No. 1 Comedy Album spot on iTunes.

Rocky Dale Davis is a national touring comedian who has appeared on several TV shows including, NBC’s “Bring the Funny,” MTV’s “Greatest Party Stories,” and Kevin Hart’s “Hart Of the City.” Originally from Alabama, Davis first appeared on CMT’s competition reality show “Redneck Island” hosted by Stone Cold Steve Austin. He has gone on to open for some of the biggest names in comedy such as Tom Segura, Damon Wayans Jr., Ralphie May, Bert Kreischer and Tommy Davidson.
- Monday, Aug. 14 through Sunday, Aug. 20: Kevin Shea with special guests
Born in South Korea, Kevin Shea grew up in Eastern Pennsylvania before moving to San Francisco to begin a career in stand-up comedy where he quickly rose to popularity after being a part of the Montreal Comedy Festival. Since then, he has appeared on numerous television shows including “Tosh.O,” ABC’s “Dr. Ken,” HBO’s “Down and Dirty with Jim Norton,” Comedy Central’s “Premium Blend” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” among others. He also was the winner of NBC’s “Stand Up for Diversity Showcase” in 2010.

Carlos Rodriguez lets his inner child come out on stage full of passion, excitement and energy with stories about life and his childhood experiences growing up in a large family. His clever and approachable style of comedy has taken him to some of the most prestigious clubs across the country and in Las Vegas. He also featured on Comedy Central’s “Up Next,” and Hulu’s “Quick Laffs.” He has also participated in the World Series of Comedy; the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, where he was a finalist; and the SLO Comedy Festival, where he was voted Best of the Fest in 2016 and 2018. Named “Best Comic in Sacramento” by Sacramento News & Review for three consecutive years in 2013-2015, he has headlined multiple international tours for American military overseas.

Willie Fratto Farrell, a stand-up comedian from Des Moines is a 35-year comedy veteran, was a Norwegian Cruise Line comic for over 20 years and has performed at countless comedy clubs across the United States. Farrell has appeared on A&E, Comedy Central and ESPN as well as featured on “The Godfathers of Comedy,” on Showtime.
