Platinum-selling rock band and Las Vegas’ very own, Imagine Dragons, will be kicking off the New Year’s celebrations in Vegas. The hometown band will rock out The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Monday, December 30. The band will be joined by special guests The Mowgli’s and Parade of Lights. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am.
“Vegas is home, so there is no better place for us to be celebrating the new year,” said lead singer Dan Reynolds. “We have a lot of history with The Joint, and this is going to be a very special show.”
Rolling Stone proclaimed Imagine Dragons “the biggest breakout of the year” and Entertainment Weekly called 2013 the “Year of the Dragons” while Billboard noted, “Imagine Dragons are rock’s 2013 live breakout.” The band also just released via iTunes their new film, The Making Of Night Visions, a live documentary that chronicles the recording of the platinum-certified album.
Imagine Dragons was formed in 2008 by lead singer Dan Reynolds. The band recorded and released their first three EPs (Imagine Dragons, Hell and Silence, and It’s Time) in Las Vegas, the hometown of Reynolds. The single “It’s Time” holds the record for the longest run on the 2012 Alternative Top 10 charts.
The band got their first big local break at Bite of Las Vegas in 2010 when they performed in front of more than 26,000 people. Local Vegas awards include “Best CD of 2011” (Vegas Seven), “Best Local Indie Band 2010” (Las Vegas Weekly), and “Las Vegas’ Newest Must See Live Act” (Las Vegas CityLife).
Imagine Dragons’ debut album Night Visions on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope has been certified platinum by the RIAA. The album arrived on the Billboard Top 200 at #2 with the best first-week sales for a full-length debut by a new rock band in over six years. The album has been propelled by the amazing success of the 2x platinum selling single, “It’s Time” and the 6x platinum follow-up “Radioactive.” The current single, “Demons” has sold over 1.3 million copies. Alternative rockers The Mowgli’s are from Southern California. They’re best known for their hit song “San Francisco” which was #11 on Billboard’s alternative chart this year. The band is names after a character in The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling.
Parade of Lights are an alt-electro band based in Los Angeles. Comprised of Ryan Daly, Anthony Improgo, Michelle Ashley and Randy Schulte, the group combines equal parts rock, electro, and shoegaze to create a unique blend of 80’s influenced pop drawing on inspiration from artists like U2, Depeche Mode, M83, and even Madonna.
